An OMGWTFBBQ study done in 2008 asked Forum users what type of trolling, if any, they performed.
Only 1.6% identified themselves as religious trolls.

I think all of them post on the Anandtech forums.
 
Further review of the study shows a full 16% identified themselves as trolls, and all non-trolling populations were in decline.
 
Pretty poor parody, because it's so true. We're stuck with these amateur trolls like Flying Pig who don't have the patience to throw a line out to catch a few big ones.

The sign of a good troll is how many people he drags into an argument. TFP isn't getting any biters anymore because "everyone knows" he's a trying to troll. The best troll is one who you really don't know if he's real or not.
