Question The RTX 4070 was a bust

sorry I was hitting the sauce pretty hard last night.
one example, starfield, ran like trash on the 3060ti, it ran like leftovers contemplating being trash on the 4070. the other games I play, i didn't notice substantial improvement.

cpu bound? What's the rest of your system?

That’s a game with pretty brutal hardware requirements (for HQ settings).

Why would you even expect a notable improvement

This time around its worse. The x7xx and x6xx series from both brands is basically being labeled one higher than it really was this gen. The 4070 is really what the 4060 should have been, the 7800 is what the 7700 should have been and the 7700 is more 7600, and the 4060 is more akin to what the 4050 typically would've been.

Plus typically you do get some gains even from the same level of a new generation, but that's been slowing down, however, even as far as the modest gains in the past several years goes, this year was worse because both brands naming scheme was misused.

RX 7600 (full Navi 33 / 32CU) is really RX 7600 XT.

But so little performance improvement over RX 6600 XT / RX 6650 XT / full Navi 23 (32 CU), that AMD labeled it RX 7600 (without XT suffix) to save (some) face.

I don't think there will be a Navi 3x - based RX 7600 XT. Maybe as a re-labeled Navi 22.
