Just saw this movie today, 2 thumbs up ;)

Funny thing was someone in the theatre audience was "talking" to Jimmy all through the movie, words of encouragement, sharing in his sorrow, cheering at the games, etc. :) No one seemed to mind it though, it was kind of strange.

The Rookie is going into my permanent DVD collection. Right now, there's only one and that's Gone in 60 Seconds.

LMAO! The Simpsons is such a great show. :D

I'm glad more people liked this movie. Cause I had my doubts, but I'll probably see it now. I'll also be seeing SpiderMan soon. :D

After seeing "The Rookie" last night, I'll agree it was a great flick.

TheBlondOne is right, it's not quite a "Remember The Titans" but it was good.

A lot of people dismissed "Field of Dreams" as just a baseball movie. But it was really a tale of redemption... of getting a second chance in life (or afterlife) to set things straight. It was also a good Father's Day movie.

Yeah, it's a baseball film, but sometimes baseball films have other redeeming qualities.

Why is everyone wanting to see this movie? I personally thought it sucked. I saw it about a month ago (6 weeks maybe?) at a sneak preview and it was pretty bad. Cheesy, predictable, too "feel-good" of a movie to actually make you feel good. And OH MY GOD, the little kid constantly saying "BRING THE HEAT DAD!" really got on my nerves.

My stepmother I and both agreed we should have seen something else.

If it was just some off the shelf contrived story I would agree. But it is something that actually happened to someone that makes it a great movie. (not all the details were 100% accurate, but pretty darn close). Plus I was able to take my 4 year old baseball loving child and her 3 year old sister.

You've heard the old saying "childhood dreams become middle age regrets." This is an inspirational story showing that is not always true.

I hear what you are say but the movie didnt convey that to me effectively. I saw it as mired in ridiculously cheesy scenes catering to a younger audience. Perhaps it might be good to kids, I dont know. While I understand the message I dont think it was done the right way for an adult audience.

disney movie = mass marketing to the widest possible audience. Agreed that sometimes they have to throw the cheese in there to accomplish that.
