It's the voltage and timings that indicate the better internal chips. Lower voltage at tighter timings is of course better.

All companies will have their share of bad sticks. Just be sure to test them; first thing you do.

The memory I use for my 980X is the 6GB Mushkin Redline Ascent. It runs fine at 1600 DDR with 6-7-6-18-1T timings and 1800 DDR with 7-8-6-18-1T. I'm currently running it at 2040 DDR with 9-9-8-20-1T timings. It performs better and I only need 1.60V.

Stay away from ocz ram. Bad stuff.

WTF OCZ ram is fine. It comes with a lifetime warranty. Oh and by the way I notice you have corsair memory, I've had more than a few corsair memories fail and guess what, they don't all carry a lifetime warranty so GTFO with your bias!

chill man...i have had not so great experiences with ocz. both stick came to be defective. i ordered ocz gold ddr2 1066 but they won't go above 800 which is nowhere near the spec. and when i clear cmos they won't boot, i have to stick my old crucial in to turn up the voltage to 2.3 (recommended is 2.1) in order to have them to boot at ddr2 800.
lifetime warranty is useless, if your memories run fine for 3 years then it usually should be fine for another couple of years until you replace your system

I can say the same for Kingston, I bought a 6GB set of 2000 C9 RAM and they wouldn't budge over 1700. Tested myself and by another member with 2 different boards, a total of 3.

Got a bad set of ddr3 ocz ram before. Started googling to see if I could find some fix to get them to run and found tons of people complaining about bad ocz ram. You can even check the reviews on newegg. I know the same could be said of other ram companies but the amount of people complaining about having some bad ocz was nuts.

I have RMA'ed 5 sets of gskill, 2 sets, twice, and a 3rd set. All were the high voltage (2.3-2.4 I think) PC8500.

I have rma'ed also Mushkin twice, and OCZ one. I think I had a crucial one also. I guess the only one I have not RMA'ed is Kingston, but I buy mostly Gskill and OCZ, so that skews the odds.

Get A-DATA ram sold in Acer systems. LOL jk jk jk, laughs. Get a good brand like OCZ or what the gurus are suggesting. gl
What is wrong with A-DATA?

Most premium brands sell quality memory but I tend to avoid them because of cost and low overclock headroom. These top companies bins the ICs vigorously to sell higher grades prducts (for more money). I try to find hidden gems. :D

1600mhz should be ALL you need.

1600mhz @ 8-8-8-20 timings is probably @ The best value point as well.
As i said.. ive been running 12GB of DDR3 @ those timings fine.. and im @ 4.3ghz:

Just get 1600mhz @ 8-8-8-20... you dont seem like a extreme ocer so you dont need to mess with the 7-7-7 timing rams.
