Milton Friedman said something about this. About how government regulations serve to create more imbalances in the economy than they fix.

We don't have a free enterprise economy, and we desperately need one.

That's worked out so well for us starting with Jimmy Carter deregulating the airlines, Bill Clinton letting the investment banks, regular banks and Wall Street merge. Then, putting the pedal to the metal with the lesser Bush not even giving a shit about inforcing any of the regulations on the books. Yea, those honest and law abiding businessmen who have nothing but our country and fellow human beings interests at heart need more freedom to f us over.

Get a clue suckers!

(You may have been being facetious, but plenty here echo your statement seriously).

That's not really a Freudian slip. It's Craig being stupid, but that's nothing out of the ordinary.

I knew this would bring in "Keep your hands off of my stack" Boberfett. as if he had one. But, the ebul guvment is what's makin his life misrble and keep'n freedm lovin pepul down. If only we'd leave all those berated rich people alone and let the magical garden of laisse fare captulsm grow we'd all be in clover.

So you want my personal opinion on the matter? The question is rather stupid to begin with but personally I do not believe people who are lazy/apathetic are at an unfair disadvantage.

The question isn't stupid at all. The belief that people who are lazy/apathetic aren't being treated fairly by everyone else is precisely what's behind far too much of the laws/regulations that force wealth redistribution in this country.

So in your opinion how far toward a free economy is too far?

I support only the most basic of social safety and security nets.

Isn't it ironic that the people who defend capitalism and the free market economy to death are also the ones who dont benefit from it?

Isn't it ironic that the people who always criticize capitalism and the free market economy to death are also the ones who do benefit from it?
