And you know GWB only wants to lower the rate too. We have this world-wide war on terror and where are those the greatest means? Trying to lower taxes even further. If we're in such a time in need, maybe they should step up to the plate like the greatest generation did since it's not like they're sending their sons and daughters to die anyway? How many pieces of body armor can a fourth mansion buy? I know, I know, shrub needs to spend his extra money on the record-breaking vacations he takes....

You are ignorant, foolish, and greedy. That's all I will say on the subject, because that's all you deserve.

what a retarded post. Are you saying we should go back to 91% for the top rate? That'd be a disaster for the country.

I'm giving you my honest opinion of the opinion you just gave. You categorize an entire group of people as unpatriotic and unwilling to serve. I know a great many upper middle class and upper class families, and they place just as much emphasis on military service and patriotic duty as do most American families.

You do a disservice to every intelligent, reasoned political debater on these boards.

I'm saying if the Republicans want to spend so much on the war on terror and in countries that they pick fights with, they need to step up to the plate and start asking rich people to give more. We won WWII and the rich paid 91% in taxes. Did rich people fall of the face of the earth? No. Was American capitalism destroyed? No. The US won the war. Can't have that happening again I guess.

Sweed anecdotal evidence.

I guess when it comes to parting with the cash in their pocket book those "upper class families" draw the line?

Upper middle class? We're talking about the top rate here. Focus with that Accounting and BS degree you're so proud of sharing with everybody.

And you've given absolutely zero evidence to support your assertions that upper-class families don't support military service.

the point is that the rich don't need double tax cuts when we have record budget deficits and natl debt

i mean how are we gonna fund 4 more wars for oil when we're $8 trillion in debt?

Gnarly strawman dude! Never argued they don't support "military service." Said they aren't forking enough out to pay for the war and the troops that fight in it. ;)

Yup, and to think the sky didn't fall that whole time. That's because rich people can afford to be taxed at higher income levels. Hence, the beauty of progressive taxation.

I never said I agreed with the tax cuts that were recently rolled out. What we need is wisdom and prudent financial planning as a nation, including a phasing out of wealth transfer and entitlement programs.

Yes, all studies I've seen show that most footsoldiers are from middle and lower class backgrounds. So no matter how much lipservice the rich might give, the stats show that the troops aren't coming from their homes.

What a nonsensical point. How about this: Kerry want to bring jobs to Americans. Why doesn't he start some companies and factories in poor neighborhoods with his wife's fortune? Why doesn't he sell his house and cars to provide healthcare for the needy? Oh, I now, I know, he needs to spend that extra money on another yacht.

Stick to actually topics - the stupidity of this post of mine was only matched by yours.

Here's the difference between Kerry and other rich people! He's working to roll back the tax cuts for the wealthiest! And people like you and GWB are fighting him.

It's hard to understand your sentence but I think you're taking responsibility for the off-topic nature of your post and its stupidity. If so, good job.

It can be argued that the economic success we have had since the 60s is a direct result of the lower taxes on the rich.

There have been numerous sociological studies on who comprises the members of the Armed Forces. Minorities and poor and middle class people are overrepresented. I'm not interested researching the actual sources for you right now but maybe if I have the time later I will.

And FDR and the "Greatest Generation" ;)

You'll have to pardon me for refusing to believe that people that are more financially successful should be penalized for their success at a heavier rate than the financially unsuccessful.

Yep, and I was hoping you'd do the same for this entire thread, but alas, you didn't. :(
