Regulars will remember that yesterday I posted a couple of logic problems to the forums.
The more astute of you will have realised that actually the 2 problems were the exact same problem, just worded differently.
One was worded in a relatively abstract way: Abstract logic question
The other was a practical scenario: Practical logic question
The translation is as follows:
Vowel = alcohol
Consonant = Non-alcohol
Number = Age
Just in case people haven't yet worked it out, the correct answers are:
A & 2, and The beer guy and the young girl
However, what was interesting was the scores.
Only 17.6% of respondants got the abstract question correct, whereas 70.8% got the practical question correct. This shows a significant difference between the 2 groups (chi squared = 56.1; p < 0.0001).
Seetext for more information and references on this effect.
