The red light on my wireless MS optical mouse keeps blinking... **Question answered!**

I just picked up the Microsoft wireless desktop kb and mouse, and am enjoying it very well. This is my first time experiementing with wireless mice, so here is my question. The plastic is kinda see-through on the side of the mouse, so when it's dark in the room, I can see the red light on the bottom used in conjunction with the sensor. But the thing is, it blinks constantly until I move the mouse. I've noticed the light will stay dim when not in use, like it should, but after a short time, it starts blinking again.

Is this some kind of sleep mode on the mouse? Or is something wrong with it? Other than this, everything seems normal. TIA

Yeah, it blinks to conserve energy because it's running off of batteries and now the PS/2 power :)

All wireless optical mice should blink when they are not in use. If the light bothers you that much, put a dark hand towel over the mouse.

It's normal, it's some sort of power saving feature as far as I can tell, my Logitech dual optical does the same.
