He'll do you one better...he's a landlord, and he bitches about tenants being scum all the time.

I wish we looked at landlords in the US the way that Japan does. Lampreys of the lower and middle classes.

That would be fine if the "average" person could afford a home. But in many cases they cannot. Plus the fact we are a far more mobile society so owning for short or indeterminate periods of time isn't particularly convenient and in some cases quite costly.
