It would become like Canada. Two big companies control the vast majority of the telco industry. High prices, low data caps, little choice, even worse customer service then there already is.

Yes, because we all know that things get better for everyone when we let one big company control a valuable resource.

As if our position #34 in global broadband rankings wasn't low enough.

I knew we were low, but din know we were THAT LOW.:| While RCN just raised my bundle $25 a month....sharp lady rep explained it to me, they even went to court, but lost....it is still arguably the Best, tho Regional. PC Mag said so.():)

Sometimes good sarcasm is best defense against the pain of "OMG! The foxes continue to steal our chicken coops with alacrity!"

Not to mention even more super pacs than last week.

Our CURRENT High court is PERNICIOUS.

And this is the exact reason why I was arguing for the implementation of a city owned internet system back in 2005 in my hometown which is now offering blazing speed at a good price.

This merger is eventually going to happen and Comcast could give 2 flips about upgrading the infrastructure after they gobble up 95% of the market in the next 15 years.

NOT if we get off our butts and be humbled by what millions have died to protect here and what the founders put in place!!!

And if it wasn't approved, how much of a difference would that make.

I don't see why so many people gripe about money in politics. The more the politicians get paid, the more they are incentivized they are to better perform their duties to the American people. It's a win win as far as I'm concerned.

Well on the positive side the AT&T/T-Mobile merger was blocked a couple years ago. AT&T would have had 43% of the mobile phone market share had it went through which is quite a bit less than what Comcast will have if this goes through

A big, GINORMOUS DIFFERENCE!!!

Please, not to rationalize NOT making a full out, sustained, passionate effort!

U want the privileges of Democracy, get, we are mandated to earn those, to preserve, sustain, ensure, MAINTAIN, RECLAIM those....ONGOING.

Exactly!!!!! Stand up! Rail! Never give up. Apathy generated cynicism is the Enemy. Passionate, pro-active indignation/action is the privilege and our best friend collectively.

Because what you tout empowers a miniscule percentage of the population IS WHY.

Faustian (whoreish) politicians sell their souls to Big business lobbyists and abrogate responsibility to their actual constituents regardless of their actual salaries which WE PAY. Those motivated by character with a sense of privilege and humility are never for sale to anyone. CIVIL SERVANTS WHO WORK FOR US.

I hope you were being sardonic. U were, right?

Cause that was more Roland than Steinway if U weren't. And, I am not dissing KBs.

As long as PEOPLE keep using these companies services and don't vote with their money......NOTHING WILL EVER CHANGE.

And no, I don't believe in people changing.

This is the foundation for the Capitalist model: competition....OPTIONS. In this event, too many people have no real options given what hard wiring a city, a neighborhood, even a building costs.

But, if we let this merge go forth.....it truly will be the coup de gras to the model altogether.

Ponder the reality of mobile hone providers. Far more choices than ever. the competition GROWS in that arena! That...is how it's supposed to work!

And no, I don't believe in people changing.

I do. I see it ongoing, I contribute to it in my work. And read history. You commit to a personal journey, it has ripple effects. U remain self protectively cynical....we all loose.
