Democrats believe that all members in society have an obligation to contribute to the general welfare. And that the government is an excellent catalyst for lifting people out of poverty and make them contributing members of society. They believe that the government is a less biased method of providing various services to everyone ranging from healthcare to education. And they believe that this method leads to the best society for everyone overall.

Republicans believe that all members in society have an obligation to work hard and provide for their own welfare. And that the government is an inefficient catalyst for providing this welfare. They believe that private methods are far more efficient and effective in providing services for people ranging from healthcare to education. And they believe that this method leads to the best society for everyone overall.

Democrats believe that the Republicans method leads to the following side effects:

Rich become richer the poor become poorer.

Bigotry and discrimination in schools

Unaffordable healthcare, and poor education for those without means.

Republicans believe that the democrat methods lead to he following side effects:

We become a classeless society where working hard has no value.

Massive increase in freeloading off of hardworking people

crappy healthcare and education.

See I didnt call anyone names.... can we set a new trend here at ATOT... and cut out the BS name calling... everyone assumes these massive conspiracy theories... that Republicans are all out to spread christianity, and abuse the poor... and that Democrats are really the government setting out to exert mind control, and confisgate your guns in order to subjugate you...

ENOUGH OF THAT CRAP.... we all have ideas of how to improve our country that we all love... the sooner we can accept that the better... Let us argue from the standpoint of pushing forward beneficial ideas in ways that everyone can agree on, and not trying to bash our ideas into each others heads....

fair enough?...

well... this is no fun... if i wanted a debate on the merits of things i'd watch c-span... although then i'd just get pissed off because hillary clinton has no clue... sheila jackson lee too, and whats worse is that she likes to talk REALLY LOUDLY LIKE THE OTHER PEOPLE ARE REALLY FAR AWAY EVEN THOUGH THE HEARING ROOM IS TINY AND HER VOICE IS AMPLIFIED.

Politics is no more about running the country, its about one against the other, the country is just the battlefield.

Yes.
Good post. I was waiting for the bashing and it never came. More of a conservative myself, but definately not a Republican.

Buddy, the other thread (the first post) didnt call anyone names if I remember correctly. You could have posted this there.. with that said...

You are absolutely correct. That is what each side believes, and you know what? Both are wrong. The TRUE solution is a mix of both views. Charity with a bias towards mnaking the person self-sustaining.

I don't think you really want to debate.. if that were the case you would have refuted my points in the other thread rather than throw a tantrum, call me names, and leave.

I disagree.

And this is lame as well.

Generalizations are simply wrong.

BTW, I totally disagree about the class thing. Republicans want a 3-class society with the lower and a weakened-middle being somewhat similar. Democrats want a 3-class society with the middle-one being dominant to the other two.... as it should be.

Of course I just generalized a bit myself.:p

Exactly... the reason our system works is because we swing back and forth... sometimes we institute Liberal policy and sometimes we institute conservative policy.

Despite my liberal disposition... I am far happier with a Conservative President and a Liberal congress than I am with a Liberal pres and liberal congress. I am just so sick and tired off the outright bashing that goes on here... claiming all liberals are blank... or all conservatives are blank... or people like GTtroll... blaming EVERYTHING on liberals... I'm sick of it... I want to compromise and work WITH my country men... I'm tired of working against them.... this forum offers a unique environment where I can reach an understanding of Conservative views, and seek a way to take the benefits of conservative ideals, and combine them with my own liberal ideals... for the best possible results... but I keep hitting the brick walls of people going against what I've said not because they disagree, but because the idea is liberal... and I've seen visa versa happen.

Enough is enough!

Q: What's the difference between a <insert party affiliation here> and a trampoline?

A: You take off your shoes before you jump on a trampoline.

Great post, and allow me add another option to the mix, the Libertarian way of looking at things:

Libertarians believe you are better able to run your life than any politician can.

Libertarians want you to be free - free to live your life as you want to live it, not as the Republican and Democratic politicians think is best.

Libertarians want you to be able to raise your children by your values - not those of bureaucrats who see your child as a little soldier in their crusade to bring about a Brave New World.

Libertarians want you to be able to keep every dollar you earn - to spend it, save it, or give it away as you see fit.

In short, Libertarians want to get government out of your life. Libertarians want you to be free. In all cases, they want to reduce government and expand your freedom.

actually, republicans want a 4 class society with middle class and upper dominating the other 2. the democrats want a 4 class society with middle and working dominating the top and being really charitable toward the bottom.
