Looks as if Micro Center did a buy-out of CompUSA "branded" stuff.

Here's the ad

Pricing and availability are IN-STORE ONLY, and good through 3/20/08.

A couple of deals stand out:
7 dBi High-Gain Antenna, 2 Pack $9.99
20x SATA DVD+R Internal DVD Burner $19.99
PCI 1394 Firewire Card $7.99
Paper CD/DVD Sleeves, 50-Pack, White $1.99
52x CD-R 700MB / 80 Minute, 50-Pack Spindle $3.99
52x CD-R 700MB / 80 Minute, 100-Pack Spindle $7.99

If I lived near a Micro Center I'd be all over that SATA DVDR and the antennas.

I was there yesterday (in Rockville), and they had boxes of assorted CompUSA stuff out. The wife and I found it quite amusing.

They're like the Fry's of the east coast. I love 'em.

Who makes SATA DVD burner? I guess Samsung? Does anybody know if they are quiet (wouldn't mind buying one for HTPC) and how well they handle poorly balanced discs?

20x SATA DVD+R Internal DVD Burner

They still make burners that can only burn +R or -R media or is this a typo?

Went to the Cambridge, MA at lunchtime and picked-up a few things. Unfortunately, they didn't have any of the internal SATA DVD burner. They did have external ones with lightscribe for $40.

I just got one of the internal SATA DVD burners at the Denver store this morning. Date of manufacture on the outside of the box: November 2007. This one is a rebadged Liteon 20A3 (model DH-20A3S to be exact). It's multiformat (DVD+-R/RW single and dual layer, also DVD-ROM) not DVD+R only like the ad indicated.

 Good info.

I'm debating whether or not a 20 minute drive is worth it. Probably not :(

The 20-pack of DL DVD+Rs for $10 looks like a good deal, I wish I'd seen it before I ordered the 50-pack from buy.com

this is weird! but to be honest I wouldn't put that cheap CUSA PSU in my system no matter how cheap it costs.

I wonder who actually makes this stuff. Why did that store ever bother to rebadge stuff? It's like Saturn taking Cadillacs and rebadging them.

I wonder if these deals will still be available next weekend. I want to make a joint Microcenter/Target run.

Plus tax and the cost of gasoline these days, not worth it. Just wait for a Newegg deal to come along - there's been several with LiteOn and Samsung drives for $28 with free shipping.

My microcenter didn't have SATA burner so I picked up firewire card, high gain antenna and 2.5" external USB enclosure.

just went to the St Clara MC, only got myself the cheapy pair of 7dB antenna (RP-TNC for those wondering). For the price, I'll give them a try.
didn't see a single SATA DVD-writer, looks like it had been cleaned out by some greedy bastards.

While I was there, I saw another greedy bastard cleaning up the 100pcs CD-R. Filled the entire shopping cart with a big grin on his face... I'm sure he'd get thousands of dollars from it!

IMO, not worth the trip.
