The rack has taken shape

Nice rack! 🙂

I think i will at some time set up a rack when i get more money to get computers! But that's given me some inspiration 🙂

Confused

That's quite a start 🙂. Also great to see the all the ingenuity everyone is doing especially in the environmental designing. I'll take some pics of the Computer room taking shape here that houses a sub fleet of the JW Middleton fleet. The room is 10x10 over the kitchen, wired an 18 Amp UPS circuit.

Yeah - thats what a couple are right now - ghetto 😛 Thats why I decided to "rack" them. Hopefully I can finish this sometime in the near future. I just took some pics of my "modded" 😱 AT desktop case. I fit a BP6, 2hdds and a CD drive into it 😛 - well kinda "in" it 😛

Aren't you afraid you are going to run the aliens off with the air from the bathroom. 😛 😀

This bathroom is in the basement so it doesn't get used frequently. I needed external airflow because there is practically no flow from the air cond vents here in the basement. I figured that pulling air from a different room might create some(all be it very little) air circulation down here.

But yeah - maybe thats why the aliens are green 😉 - the smell 😛 HA HA HA! 😛

Oh and i suppose i'd better rewire the reversing switch so i control it from my room - just incase someone decides to "flush" a few WUs of their own 😛 - I don't really need that "air" in my room 😛

nice setup! Sweet looking.

What diameter are the rods that you have through the boards?

#8 Threaded rod. I used nylon nuts on the bottom of the first layer to keep it off of the shelf a little. The only thing holding the boards apart is the plastic hose that fits snuggly over the threaded rod. The #8 rod is kind of a tight fit through the motherboards so I reamed out the holes just a tad so they would slide on easier. The rod goes all the way through the "shelf" and has a nuts on both side to keep it secured to the shelf. All the parts for my project came from the local Home Depot or Menards. 3' rods were only ~1.50? each and the nylon nuts were only ~.49 ? each. Hose was .08 per foot. So this is a pretty cheap rack to build 😀 The window fans are kinda cheap to at only ~$20.00 depending on the model, you'd spend more than that on 1 case 😉

The best thing about this whole project is that my wife will stop asking me about why I need all those computers. "out of sight...out of mind" 😉😀

That is pretty cool 🙂 I'm most likely getting a new athlon xp this summer, I'll end up having an Abit VT6X4 and a Celeron 500/Pentium 3 450 without a case 😉. I think I need more to start a rack 😛
