The question begs to be asked - Why does Microsoft simply not buy Google?

Noone twists anyone's arms and makes em buy microsoft. They just did it better than everyone else (marketing not necessarily programing).

I cant stand the fact that an american company gets punished for being too popular.

it isn't illegal to have a monopoly. it is illegal to monopolize.

god people around here have no idea what the antitrust laws say.

completely agreed, and this is something most ppl do not see easily...

Google is today where MS was 10 years ago... young, brash, successful, rich, and can-do-no-wrong.... with access to far too much information - information that can easily be abused. just like MS had access to far too many desktops....

monopolistic practices and abuse of dominance are simply human nature... which is why most countries have had to enact laws to prevent (rather, minimize or regulate) them

true ... the antitrust law itself is hard enough to understand... but most laws are like that... not exactly casual reading material!

what concerns me more is that most people do not spot anti-competitive behavior until they have had some specific education on the subject....

I myself used to ask what was wrong with Japanese companies selling memory chips at ridiculously low prices... good for the consumers, right?

We need a lot more awareness on this subject
