1. I get this on my nephews computer whenever I try to open AOL and many other programs. Can someone let me know what it is and how to fix it or get rid of it.

2. While awaiting some ram that I bought to arrive to add to the computer I decided to put a stick of 128 that I had laying around to see how much it would improve performance. It is coming up as 64. Then tried another stick of 128 in a different slot and it too was coming up as 64. They were in another computer that was running 256 of ram. Could it be that they are double sided and that is incompatible with the board???

Compaq 5500 1.33
Windows XP

Thanks, Leigh

Probably a Software, or more specifically an OS, problem. There's a very slight chance it's a bad stick of memory but I've ever heard of bad memory causing that problem.

Sounds like you've let one or more of virus, worm, trojan, spyware, adware programs infect and corrupt your hard drive and WIndows system file(s) have been damaged.

Easiest fix would be to format the hard drive and re-install everything. You might be able to fix things using the steps in the Spyware thread in Software, but it's hard to un-corrupt system files.
