The Prize in my kids Sonic Kids meal pissed me off

OutHouse

Lifer
two of my kids got a little booklette on how to learn spanish. it had pictures of objects like a school bus, a pig, horse, grapes and about 10 more pictures with the word in large spanish type. :|

This whole spanish language influx is really starting to piss me off. I totally felt like it was a sneak attack to get MY kid to learn Spanish. I bet if they put books in there on how to learn English it would cause a the media to go nuts.

Im writing Sonic about this. Its BS!!

I agree that if someone is going to live & work in a certain country, they should be able to speak the dominant language. That said, is it such a terrible thing for your kids to learn a few spanish words in between bites? 😕

OH THE HORRORS OF EDUCATION AND GLOABALIZATION.

How dare they encourage intelligence and tolerance at the same time.

If I ever start a restaurant, I'll include booklets about beating immigrants and poor people in the "WASP" meal.

omg. encouraging kids to learn a foreign language? what jerks.

how about encourgaing non-english speakers LEARN ENGLISH!!

why should someone in Spain learn English?

Exactly - someone in Spain shouldn't have to learn English. Likewise, someone in Mexico wouldn't have to learn English. However, I know where Citrix lives and around there, the Mexicans (a good portion of whom are in the country illegally) not only expect but demand that we speak Spanish to them rather than them taking the time to learn English.

As my grandfather who emmigrated to the US in the early 30's said, "We're in America now and Americans speak English..."

Why should someone in America learn Spanish? Sorry man, but it goes both ways. Live and work here, speak our language, fluently.

Go over to any European country and start speaking English, and you'll inevitably find a native who does as well.

Come here and start speaking Spanish/French/whatever, and prepare for a lot of blank stares.

Honestly it wouldn't be so bad if there wan't a dramatic increase over the last few years of second generation immagrants speaking their native language at home. Add to that a lot of jobs here require people to speak spanish and surely you can see how this could be a bad thing. I guess I should mention I am in Georgia, speak spanish and still disagree with the "toys".

God forbid someone learn something useful, like words in a language that's spoken on three continents.

And English is spoken on four continents. Your point?

they already know English.

what's the harm in learning a second language? it's much easier to learn it as a kid than to learn it as an adult.

That is OUTRAGEOUS - make sure you write to the manager and get a free meal or something. Your poor kid! 🙁

I agree. They should have language specific meal toys. What better way to teach the illegals English.
