The Prince of Afghanistan

I fell over this morning while watching the morning news, they were interviewing the Prince of Afghanistan on channel news 8, he was speaking about the welfare of his people and how we, as Americans can help the ravaged population.
At the end of the story, the reporter announced "This is _________ (name of reporter), from the home of the Prince of Afghanistan in Milford,ct."

I almost fell over, apparently the Prince has been living in my town for more than ten years, I wish I had caught his name, I do believe his first name was Sali ?, I do know it started with an "S".

Does anyone know who I am talking about ?

not quite. The taliban came after the Soviet installed regieme. You'd have to go back to the 1970s to when the king of Afghanistan was in power.
