once again someone speaking out for the freedom of speech for one group, but wanting to remove freedom of speech for another.

Freedom of speech works both ways.

Well, Charrison, that's a bit harsh- the author never offered that anybody's speech should be restricted. She did, however, basically offer up the idea that it's the oversimplifications and sloganism of the far right that's led to this state of affairs. Good and evil, black and white, with us or against us, no room for discussion, anyway, not with commie pinko f@ggot sympathizin' terrorist lovers who hate our way of life and want to grab our guns...

See what I mean?

very obvious but still interesting. im always happy to see concerns i have being voiced in mass media. that way, i know im not alone.

you know, i have some very republican friends and i try to talk to them about politics and then generally just give me a big old "NOPE! not listening!" (im not saying this is becuase of who they support. just that we differ in opinions) my best friend refuses to listen to many of my stories becuase of the source. i find it interesting how easily we each disavow each others sources thereby making all the information coming from them moot.

I argue with all my right wing friends and relatives, but I try to keep it civil. It can be hard. You have to have faith in the basic goodness of people and realize that some very good folks have some very wierd ideas. And, thank GOD they aren't running this country.

One of my brothers is so totally Republican he won't listen to anything but Rush and Boortz and Fox Comedy Central. He doesn't WANT to know what the other side is thinking. He's so F***ing lazy it drives me crazy. I just can't understand how some of the monkeys in MY family tree can be so dumb. :)

It has nothing to do with what you mention. It has everything to do with freedom of speech and everyones right to use it.

I fail to see where she excluded any group? Please enlighten me.
