Is anyone else as pumped to see this movie as I? Christian Bale has to be one of my favorite actors especially after seeing him in "The Machinist" and watching the special features where they talk about his dedication to the film. I mean...he lost like 60 pounds or something crazy like that...just so he could accurately portray the screenplays description of his character..."A walking corpse"

I'm EXTREMELY excited about this movie. From the cast to the Director...I expect nothing but an awesome movie. Hopefully it won't let me down.

i want to see it badly for the following reasons: nolan's directing it, bale's in it, scarlett , sleight of hand magician ricky jay is in it, and it just plain looks fascinating.

I watched the HD trailer on Apple, it's nice. I think batman's the devil or something in this movie.

Yep, I'm totally psyched for this movie...everybody concerned is just awesome in my opinion, with Johansson being the weak link.

Question is...when will I fit it into my schedule? Totally packed this weekend...

It does look fairly good. Both it and the Illusionist are getting good reviews for the most part, and both have pretty good cast and look like they don't suck. Its stupid that Hollywood always seems to put out two movies that are similar right around the same time (Armaggedon and Deep Impact, Mission to Mars and Red Planet, etc.), of course these two look to be at least both good overall.

Speaking of which, does anyone else find it strange that there is another movie about Capote and the events surrounding In Cold Blood?

Were you the one that posted on RT regarding the same subject of Mission to mars vs. Red Planet? I just find it odd that someone brings this up with one of the same examples ;)

Further I'm a little worried about the box office potential as neither Jackman nor Bale are sure things at the box office (ie: Scoop and The Machinist, among others) and I think ordinary people might have already seen their magician movie for the year (or decade) in The Illusionist. We see stuff like this a lot in movies where the second movie of two similar concepts does poorly at the box office (see Volcano/Dante's Peak, Capote/Infamous, Mission to Mars/Red Planet, Saving Private Ryan/Thin Red Line) though I certainly acknowledge there are some exceptions (Deep Impact/Armageddon comes to mind). I'm still excited for it (I love Nolan, Bale, Caine and Jackman and I like the concept), but my expectations have dropped dramatically.

I dunno, just because they might be similar doesn't mean they'll go hand in hand or follow past patterns.

No, but I can see why you'd think that.

I always forget the Saving Private Ryan/Thin Red Line and sometimes forget the Dante's Peak/Volcano examples. Glad that I'm not the only one who notices this. I guess that it goes along the lines of one studio hears what some other studio is doing and so rushes to put together an similar themed movie so as to ride the coattails of the other.

This movie looks really good...There's some really good movies coming out lately, The Departed was absolutely brilliant.
