This is an informational post for those who are interested in using the Affinity Changer with F@H. Here is how my points scaling went using the SMP client, all PPD's are as recorded by Fahmon

Rig specs:

Asus P5K
E6600 @ 333x9.0
2x1GB Ballistix PC6400

Client/OS used: Fah SMP client(no gui), XP Pro

Ok, here's how the points went:

CPU @ stock 2.4: 1450 PPD
CPU @ oc'd 3.0: 1800 PPD + Affinity changer = 2025 PPD :)

Link to affinity.zip, Thanks to my bro for hosting :)

True that....

I have several machines who's PPD increased by 100 or so just by installing the affinity program. Others not so much, but at the end of the week it accounts for an extra smp WU...

Now, would that also work with BOINC or any other DC client, or is that a special F@H affinity changer? Link? :)

This is specific to the Folding@Home SMP Client only. It allows a 2-CPU system to run 4-core work units, and a 4-CPU system to run two instances. (8 threads)

I've installed it on 2 of my X2's.
4200+ at 2.2ghz (883 ppd without)
4000+ at 2.42ghz (932 ppd without)

I'll post the difference in a couple of days after 2 units finish per machine to see if there is a difference.

Sounds like I may have given up too easily on the opty!

I'll try it again when I get the chance

That's what I thought too....

So... being a Saturday with crappy weather outside, I'm in the middle of re-testing on my opteron.

So far, I did the first 7+ frames of a 2653 and FahMon reported 1104PPD (using last3 monitoring estiimate preference)
Booted
used service manager to kill the affinity changer and then started the SMP..... waiting on results now.... (I'll post in a couple hours.... )

PS: yes, you read that right.... 1104 PPD :p

later...........

OK, it's at step 15 now and I have FahMon showing 1099 PPD

ie: affinity changer doesn't do squat for my Opty..... as posted earlier

:)

Shitty Sid, I'm not sure how it all works, but I assumed the affinity changer affected the F@H app to create a better PPD. Thanks for posting the good info
