Do you or do you not give change to the homeless with money cups? There are many here in Boston...most of the time sleeping in the middle of a warm spring day...in the middle of the boston common. I work in EMS and we get called to every other homeless man invading the nearest dunks sleeping at the tables where people are trying to eat their bagels. They come up to your car at intersections, sometimes they even wash your windshield expecting some type of reward. They work as a team infront of the local shelter, scrubbing your windshields like a NASCAR pit crew, it's quite entertaining, the police emphasized to them- not to go near public safety vehicles when stopped at the light, and if they do, there will be consequences. So do you give them change? or not?

I never. Homeless people get free housing, food, and allowance from charities and the government (my pocket). Hence, I never give money to beggers.

giving money to homeless people motivates them to sit on the streets and get more money. they need to get off their butts and get a job.

No.

Last year I used to have to walk to the grocery store to buy snacks for my dorm room. Everytime I'd walk there, I'd see this same begger. He always asked everyone for change and I felt really bad for him. One day, I decided I pick him up a can of soup from the store to see how hungry he really was. When I stopped to hand him the can he got all pissed off because I didn't give him any money. Now I just laugh at the bastard every time I see him.

"Can you spare some change for coffee is what I always get asked by them."

"Sorry" is what I usually reply with.

I absolutely cannot handle panhandlers.. And that's what they are.. From what I've seen, most are NOT homeless. I saw this fat bitch 'homeless' lady that always stands around Gainesville with a 'God Bless' sign get into the driver seat of a new Jetta once. That new Jetta was better than my car. Fvck her.

Our economy is supply and demand.. When there's a market, the supply fills the demand. Except.. panhandlers are taking advantage of the good supply of human goodwill found in many areas.

Oh ya.. My girlfriend and I watched this panhandler with a 'Homeless - Anything Helps' sign at an intersection the other day. For the 45 seconds we were waiting for the left turn light (into an outlet mall, btw..), we saw her make $5.. FIVE GODDAMN FVCKING DOLLARS IN 45 SECONDS BY TAKING ADVANTAGE OF HUMAN GOODWILL. Fvck her. I hope she gets cancer.

The next day, other panhandlers must've noticed the market.. There were FOUR of them! And, two were smoking cigarettes. ARGH.

It is your duty NOT to give money or loose change directly to panhandlers.. A guy down on his luck that's NOT panhandling, maybe... But these 'homeless' people have opportunities in almost EVERY city in the US to go to a shelter, get a clean pair of clothes, and start pieceing their lives back together. But, if people keep giving them money, it's like feeding animals at a zoo.. They become reliant and lazy.

The greedy panhandlers have ruined it for the legitimite homeless people. Think about it.. chances are you would be giving your hard-earned money to a 'professional' panhandler (since they are better at it) than honest-to-god down-on-their-luck homeless people.

FIVE GODDAMN DOLLARS IN 45 SECONDS.

My wife does that, too. I just try to figure out if they are really in need, or just want drugs or alcohol. If they look really desperate I'll give them whatever spare cash I have.
