Why shame on 1280x1024? That is the default resolution for many of us with LCD monitors. Running at a different resolution is suck.

1280x1024 is the incorrect aspect ratio. It distorts your images. 1280x960 is the correct aspect ratio.

also one of my biggest pet peeves for some reason

Mine is people who have 17"+ monitors and run 640x480 because they don't know they can change it. Aaargh!

I run 1280x960 for the same reason,btw.

Never fear, good sir. I join you among the ranks of the elite.

Thanks to X, 1400x1050 @85Hz is quite possible. Or, frankly, nearly any resolution.

I'm at 1152X864 at 85 Hz at True Color in Windows NT at work on a 21" Viewsonic and basically the same settings at home in 32 bit Windows 98SE on a 19" KDS. My 17" Princeton gets 1024X768 at 32 bit in Windows 2000. I never realized that 1280X1024 was out of whack. My work monitor doesn't have the 1280X960 setting available.

and yeah 1392x1044 doesnt really exist....you have to add it by editing your inf file if you have an nvidia card. i use it because it's the highest my monitor will go at 85hz, anything lower than that gives me a headache.
