the ending is pathetic, in every sense of the word. nickolson slumped like
a hoboe, crying and jabbering to himself, is not appealing

heh, i'm so tempted, but i've invested an hour of my time in this damn movie - maybe just 5 more minutes. something....exciting...happen...please!

10 min later and the most exciting thing to watch on the screen was the steam rising from a hot cup of coffee.

heh, i felt like that about battlefield earth. sometimes when a movie bombs, you just have to see how bad it is for yourself.

-by the way, B.E. was much more entertaining than The Pledge imo, so you might want to pass this time

Amen to that.....this movie is amazingly slow. I don't know about you guys, but it seems like Nicholson developed this obsession about his pledge right at the end of the movie. I mean, yeah he kept trying to solve the murder mystery throughout the whole movie, but it seems as if in the last sequence of events he just flips out for no reason. At least that's what it looked like to me.
