Nice... he spun around and stayed on topic when they tried to derail him on the meaning of pitchforks. If he had strayed into what violent societal decay means, they'd make that the topic and assail him with word games and petty political arguments re what may or may not happen.

I think it's summary enough to tell folks to use their imagination when people are poor and hungry. Plenty of examples in the rest of the world for us to know what's coming if we don't do better.

Fact is wages haven't followed cost increases, and if reversing that will help stem the tide of societal decay, then the effort may very well be worth it. For my own personal interests it'd help reduce dependence on government money, by simply cutting out the middle man and making it your money from the start.

Lot of worse ways to go about this, and I don't know of any better. Until I do, I shall stand by this man and his well reasoned argument.

Again, why is this my problem? Move to the suburbs if you want to be removed from the poor and hungry you're worried about killing you, otherwise stay in place and raise your taxes locally to pay off the rioting mobs.

Whether or not this country resembles Mexico's violence and poverty, or worse, is everyone's problem.

As long as you have the circus there will be no revolution. They make sure you are entertained, just like the Romans did. Gladiators. NFL.

They all pale next to Birther Benghazi IRS conspiracy theories. There ought to be some kind of award for that kind of performance.

What Hanauer is saying is what I've been saying for a long time- that this 35 year trend of wealth & income concentration must be stopped if we're to have the America we want for our descendants 30 years down the road. He's very eloquent in doing so.

His solutions seem reasonable enough to me. They're a place to start. They may not be sufficient. What he fails to mention is that enormous inequality correlates well with market manipulation & instability as well. It's no problem for the .001%, not yet, anyway- many benefit from it, but it raises hell with the fortunes of many of the rest of us.

Witness the Great Depression & the Lesser Depression of today.
