The Phantom Console actually exists!

I saw that at E3 and haven't heard a word since. Did they have their "August" announcement that Mr. Sleazy Salesman was talking about? That angled keyboard is the dumbest thing I've ever seen.

starcraft........in high def?

hmm

your monitor should already be putting out high def starcraft. considering the game only does like 800x600 IIRC.

looks nice but august has come and gone and no word, looks cool tho but 25$ a month for 2 years is insane

Imbedded 5700 GPU? THAT SUX!!!

the Xbox is useing something very similar to that

Yeah but by the way the guy was describing the system, it is just a PC that is castrated to only work when communicating with their server. Yes I know the XBox is also a castrated PC but they actually have developers making code specifically for the XBox where as this thing is going to be running PC games pretty much off the shelf.

Xbox uses the "geForce 3-1/2" - believe it's a gF3 with an extra vertex unit.

It's fitting that the Phantom chooses the crappiest core of late (according to the AT postmortem review) for the crappiest console of late. 😀

Why do they even bother if they are gonna throw in a POS GPU? They should have at least made it a 5900. Maybe they'll hold of for a while and make it a 6800 or 6600. HAHA yeah right.

What a joke. 24 months x $30/mo = $720, plus the cost of games? (Not to mention that, oh, by the way, the company just might go out of business, and take the service with them, along with your money.) What moron would buy that, instead of an XBox and/or PC?

Did ya miss the soldering iron...or the slackware? I wanna see if I can hack it apart and make a pc out of it...just for the hell of it.

Remember it's only going to be outputting to TV, and most people have crappy TV's, so you only need 640x480 for most people, which a 5700 could handle.

You guys have to keep in mind that it's outputting to a tv. TV hides many of the intricate details your monitor shows. It also gives you free antialiasing. That means the card can run most games in low/medium detail at a lower resolution so I guess the 5700 is sort of logical.
