well, around $300 in products.

No jail time, probably probation or class. Looking at spending about $500 in legal cost (inc. restitution + other fees)

My last semester in college we got busted for stealing signs from our campus (parking signs, my favorite was ..."Reserved parking for the President of XXXXXX University). My roommate and I were each charged with petty larceny (misdemeanor). In South Carolina, we were able to take a PTI (Pre-Trial Intervention) course (think community service, sitting through a few classes, donating food to the local food bank) that allowed us to have the guilty plea expunged from our record.

PM me with any questions.

Did you hear about bigfoot and aliens taking control of the earth on it also? :disgust:

Actually I'm not kidding, I actually did. Supposedly he has a "wraparound" record of crimes and is known for bullying the elderly. He actually beat up an old man and stole his cell phone. Took the jury 15 min. to decide lol. Still a bit harsh to me though.

I sent the OP this flowchart thing.

Look this is whats gonna happen.

You will be arraigned. You will either get a lawyer or the court will give you one.
You will meet with this lawyer.Tell him the truth.
You will then go to pre-trial.Nothing can happen here. They cannot arrest you at pretrial. They will just decide if they have enough evidence to go to trial. They will.
You will talk to your lawyer a few more times.
You will have a court date.
You will be asked to plead guilty.I would prolly do it.Or try to get a no-contest
You will go to court. The judge will ask you for your plead.Give him your plea.Assuming you are not found innocent
You will be arrested. The baliffs in the court will place you under arrest.
You will be taken to a holding pen. There are other criminals in here.Maybe murderers and rapist and so forth.Chill out.I am assuming you are a typical ATOTer.This does not matter. No one will fvck with you.You will sit in there for up to two hours.A sheriffs office will come get you.You will have photos taken and be fingerprinted. These will be sent to both state and federal databases.Congratulations you just fvcked up.You will be released.
You will be put on probabtion.Since you had court in the morning, you will have time to go meet your probabtion officer. They will put you on 18-36 months of probation.Do not break it.The officer will instruct you on how to pay the fines ( 400-900) dollars and when you can begin your community service ( 60-300 hrs)

This what has happened for me.Please dont fvck up again. It only gets worse after thistime.

The charge was for assault not for the stealing more then likely.

So, from pm's it seems the OP was busted before he left the property. Here in Canada, you can't be charged with theft until you leave the property, is that the same policy in the states?

Why would you knowingly take something that isn't yours?

The penalty? Depends on who you're taking it from. From some people, it's just slap on the wrist. If you're stealing from me, it'll range from the biggest beatdown you've ever seen to death. I don't take thieves lightly. They are worthless.

Deceitful actions don't just happen by accident.

You sound like you are getting upset. The fact is if you touch me.I will sue.I will win.The prospect of litigation is the reason store like Barnes and Nobles have a "No chase policy".Why do you think they do that? You cannot put your hands on me.Have fun with your beatdown fantasy big guy.

The fact is that you might not able to sue. I'd fire once- at your head. If I miss, it was a warning shot, and I scared you away. If I hit, I was defending myself, because you were coming after me...and there's only one side to this story. ;)

I wonder what kind of person you are. You seem to side with the thief and not the person who is getting robbed. Are you a thief yourself? Oh, it looks like you are: "I got put on probation,400 buck fine,90 hrs community service"

So yes, you are a thief, and that's why you are defending thieves instead of the people that get robbed. You're a punk that steals from people, and threatens to sue if they touch you. A strong set of morals you have.

You've told the forum what kind of man you are... a gutless thief with no morals. Scumbags like you are always looking for the easy way out: lie, steal, sue.

Now come try to steal something from me. I'll show you what kind of man I am. And unlike these 130 lb kids on the internet, I don't need to lie about what I could do to you.

" I got put on probation,400 buck fine,90 hrs community service.
If this is your first offense your fine. You will not go to jail. Repeat you will not go to jail."

"You guys are just in the dark about the justice system. Its more of a joke than you can imagine. "

"Yeah, thats how its been for me these oh eleventy-billion time."

Read this. That's the type of guy Eigen is. Imagine that- a criminal in favor of criminal rights. And on top of that he's lashing out against people like me who don't steal but don't tolerate criminals.

Eigen, people like you are why I defend my house with a pump shotgun and not a cell phone. Come over, try to steal something from my place- They'll have to pick you up from the floor with a mop.
