The PC game of the week is... Psychonauts

I feel bad right now, really bad. Watch this video review to understand why. I never purchased/played Psychonauts. Not because I didn't want to, but because I kept telling myself I'll get it eventually. Eventually never happened. It'll be on order this Friday along with Grim Fandango.

Psychonauts was a fun game. It's a great 3rd-person explorer (à la Zelda: Ocarina of Time) and was very original. The art is great, even though the style many not be for some (like me)...

but for some reason I got bored towards the end and stopped playing. I don't know if this is the game's fault, but I stopped playing after I got about half the brains.

I raved about it to my younger brother, and he ended up in the same boat as you.

I loved the themed levels - the three insane asylum members were absolutely stunning.

Fantastic game no matter what system you play it on. The only drawback is there isn't a whole lot of replayability. There's stuff to collect and all, but once you finish the game there wasn't a way to go back and try and find the rest of the stuff you missed, which most platformers let you do.

It's one of those games I want to like more than I like; I bought it at the time to support Schafer and his creativity. I didn't enjoy it that much, but I want to see him make more creative games like that. I like his older ones a lot. As much as I like 'far out weird', I just didn't like this particular content too much.

I think that guy is taking too much caffeine.

I think the game didn't suceed due to poor marketing. I don't remember them building any level of interest in the game. Good reviews are nice but you have to have developed some interest amongst gamers before the reviews come out.

Wonderful game, fun characters and excellent gameplay. My only gripe with the game is the last level which I thought was terrible and not very fun but the game is well worth buying.

For some reason I didn't take to Psychonauts. Really colorful characters and great graphics, and I really wanted to like it. I can't articulate why I didn't, but for some reason, I just didn't. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who even remotely enjoys platformers, as I think the problem was with me and not the game.
