over the years, I see the pattern.

it is "officially" concluded now.

Here are the facts...

- Via KT133/a boards don't die..

- Via KT266/a boards don't die..

- Via KT333/400/600 boards don't die..

I tried to deliberately rape these boards by hammering it, drop food/liquid, soak it with water, overvolt to 3.3+V on the memory, and other abusive actions for years but... they ... just.... don't die. I failed to accomplish my mission. The boards beat me.

whereas..

- Nforce2 v1.0 boards FSB oc's good and pretty damn stable in games.. but dies easily.

- Nforce2 v1.1 boards FSB oc's good and pretty damn stable in games.. but dies easily.

- Nforce2 v1.2 boards FSB oc's good and pretty damn stable in games.. but dies easily.

- Nforce2 v2.0 boards oc like dog sh#t and totally unstable and die easily... not only these boards die easily(even at very small oc setting) but it's worthless because they are not stable at all... after messin with over 14 of these v2.0 boards, it's totally, 1000% proven... nforce Gay boards.. nvidia did poorly in designing/engineering these boards.. they ripped us off. NO MORE NVIDIA CHIPSET BASED BOARDS.

Here is the recommendation for ya..

if you want "safe" and "stable" operating board, seek Via Apollo boards... KT333/400 or 600. These boards are proven to be damn stable and immortal.. they don't die on you... meaning no RMA's unless you return it because you didn't like coz you don't know what you are doing or don't know how to tweak.

Those who seek for "sense of security", you need to go with the Via's route. Stay the hell away from the nforce GAY boards.... if you must, seek for nforce2 v1.0~ 1.2 boards.. at least you will get better stability.. but be warned... have your RMA time ready.. get 10 of these boards so if one dies, you can use the next board and if that board dies, use the third one while you're waiting for RMAs.. 10 boards will last you 10days~ few months avg. If you don't want to put up with RMA crap and wasting your money on 10 boards, just go with the Via board.. all you need is one to last longer than your life time.

It is proven that the Via company makes the board that is far more advanced and carefully engineered. They are made different than the nforce2 GAY boards.. ya should make this post sticky. Good read.

wrong... it is informative post... should be stickied.. not a flamebait. it is flamebait if you make it to be.. take it nicely and you turn this into a nice informative thread..

you mean.... Nforce v1.0~1.2s were the best things within nforce2 boards although they still suck... but hella better than v2.0s..

I've use MANY Via based boards in the past (the MVP3 is the first of many). They were not all stable, some were great though. My Epox 8K3A+ was the best Via board I've ever used. But honestly, it didn't hold a candle to the Epox 8RDA+ I upgraded to from it and certainly not the Abit NF7-S Rev 2.0 I'm using now.

I'll be honest MeowCat, you are the first hardcore Via fanboy I've seen on any of the forums I've hung out at over the years. Good luck with that. :)

I've never had any serious problems with VIA mobos - though several of them did not like the early 3D video cards running under Win98se too well. But I'm using serveral nForce2 mobos (8RDA+ and FIC AU13), not to mention selling quite a few of the AU13s to clients - and never had a problem with any of 'em. I find that most bios clearing and dead board problems are due to turning off while the bios is being updated. That is, not during a bios software update, but after changing an item in the bios, and the board needs to save the configuration, but is powered off during the reboot/save process.

In any case keep posting, so you can really enjoy your vacation.

I think this is one of our old trolls come back under a different account ;) Follows the same MO as the last 2 in succession, from post #1 they pick a popular product, AMD&Intel for the last 2, and proceed to bash the product endlessly simply hoping to get a rise from members here. Unfortunately for these trolls the Anandtech moderators are far less tolerant of their mindless rantings and the members here conduct themselves far more maturely than the children on many other tech boards  Moderators, if you would be so kind as to examine the 20 posts this troll has made here, you'll discover not a single post contained anything remotely resembling a positive contribution to the site.

Now, may I suggest we stop feeding the troll.

Personally I'm disapointed that most people think that the AMD chipset business is only a two horse race. SiS allways seems to be left out even though it has to be one of the best (IMO) mainstream chipsets available. I know there has to be a boat load of people ready to tell me how wrong I am, I'll also bet that these same people are anything except mainstream. I'm sure there are plenty of reasons other people perfer VIA or nVidia but I am quite happy with SiS thank you very much.
