The Pat's 19 consecutive wins is a nice achievement for them...

I think they are one the best regardless- in the era of a salary cap and selfish players, to get 2 Super Bowls in 3 years, 19 wins in a row, 17-2 last year....however, if they run the table and go undefeated this year (19-0, Super Bowl win; 34 wins in a row), then they should be considered THE best team in history. It won't happen, but a 3rd Super Bowl in 4 years should put them in elite company.

If they can win another this year they wil be up there with the greatest teams in history. However, with the salary cap and free agency being in the state they are now, there will never be a team greater than the '80s 49ers or the '70s Steelers. Sorry.

you left out Lombardi's Packers.

Of course, how do you define greatness? 1972 Dolphins won 7 of their 17 games by 7 points or less; the 1985 Bears had 18 wins, 16 of which were by 10+ points (and their defense gave up a total of 10 points in 3 playoff games)- but they lost once in the regular season.

I only let out the '60s Packers because then I would have had to put the '90s Cowboys on there, and no one would enjoy that, heh...

The '80s 49ers are on top followed closely by the '70s Steelers, everyone else is an echelon below IMO...
