Hello all:

Well I was given the movie The Passion Of The Christ on Christmas from my sister and her husband and was going to watch it once I got my new computer up and running. I did get my computer going but put off watching it as I had other things to do. However, what better day then Easter to watch a movie like this, so I installed PowerDVD and got it up and going.

Verdict: powerful, wonderful, and engaging. A must watch, even if you are not a Christian and don't buy all this He came for our salvation from sins thing. Just watch it and keep thinking to yourself, "what if it is true."

BTW: May be a little late now but what the heck Happy Easter everyone :)!

I saw the movie and didn't find it all that funny. I only laughed a few times at most. What a disappointment.

The movie might be good if Mel Gibson didn't create it to exploit religion. Think about it, a big blockbuster like this feeding on the popular beliefs of millions, it's a guaranteed money maker. That and the fact that it was basically a gore flick about Christ dying, I'd much rather see a Rob Zombie rendition of the death of Christ.

If you really want to watch a powerful movie about the death of Christ, watch the last temptation of Christ. Not only will it strengeth and challenge your beliefs; it will leave you thinking, which the Passion of the Christ does not leave you thinking and instead does all the thinking for you.

It also felt like it was trying to make me feel sympathy for Christ. Basically I don't mind religion, but I do mind senseless exploitations and attempts at capitalizing on people's beliefs. I should stop talking now.

But to sum things up, terrible movie, I will never recommend it, nor ever watch it again. There are much better movies out there involving biblical myths that portray much better messages, and use much better stories and ideas.

It was good for a guy, lots of gore but I don't think it was actually a good movie because Mel didn't develope the Jesus character well enough for the audience to be moved when he died... ;)

Over use of blood & gory. Maybe he is God therefore he have more than 6-7 quarts of blood, because it seems as if there is more blood in that square than a battle field. Take out the blood and you don't have much of a movie, and the acting also sucks.

I'll be generous and give it a 3/5.

That's just the thing. Jesus was and is the only person in history to have been important enough to warrant such a following. How does a simple carpenter from an obscure village in the Middle East suddently have a following of millions that has lasted nearly two thousand years?

Paul was crucified? I would like to see some documentation on that. The Bible leaves him in Rome where we do not know what happens to him. And Peter as well, I would like to see some sort of proof of this as well. You will have to enlighten me on Constantine.

But regardless, where are their followers?

None were crucified. You asked " How does a simple carpenter from an obscure village in the Middle East suddently have a following of millions that has lasted nearly two thousand years?". That is part of your answer and it wasn't "suddenly".

For some reason I didn't expect you to understand.

And the other part of the answer is:

This was the original proposition. A film of someone else crucified being as powerful. Now Jesus is the only one out of all those mentioned who suffered such a ghastly death that gave rise to a wide spread religion; now known as Christianity. Maybe some of these others had followers but none were as important as Jesus, simply because they were human only, Jesus became human but is truly Lord and God. He simply limited his powers for a time so that he could provide salvation, Philippians 2.

Did you edit this in? Just to make a jab at me? That's fine. I was hoping for a simple discussion/debate and didn't want insults to start.
