The Passion of the Christ

Alrighty, has anyone seen it yet? I'm keen on seeing it and think that there is too much hoopla regarding it being anti-semitic, I just think that you have to see it for yourself before you judge.

The trailer is very emotional for some people to see, and it may actually be a good depiction of events back then.

Let's hear what others have to say 🙂

I was watching some history channel or discovery channel that said that the bible isnt even a good depiction of stuff back then...I HIGHLY doubt that mel gibson is better.

I say that the local churches should stop shoving it down everyone's throat. i wish they would mind their own fvcking business and watch the movie with their friends and family and stop bugging every random stranger they see to accept jesus fvcking christ as their goddamn savior.

Great generalization.

My church bought tickets for our members to buy, but I didn't see any of them on the streets handing out invitations.

Either you are the absolute most badgered person in the world by the church or you just love making it seem that way. I think you have posted in every religious thread on anandtech saying how they are always ramming it down your throat.

when i said local, i meant local for me, i have no idea what goes on in your town.

my church bought out 3 whole showings and sold tickets to church members... however there was a stipulation, in order for members to buy tickets - they also had to buy an ticket to bring a non-church going friend, or to donate to give out to people in the houses near our church

Sorry the "the local churches" and "everyone's throat" must have fooled me somehow into thinking you were generalizing....

And they enforced this how?

I'm sure they didn't have to enforce it very much. Being God fearing church folk, I'm sure they followed the stipulation and were all to eager to bring a heathen with them.

just got back. as a catholic who hasnt practiced in awhile, it is pretty powerful. im not ready to jump head first into the religion pool quite yet, but the message got across well. btw, it was a PACKED house tonight. 2 theatres, same time, both theatres jam-packed with people.

Just got back myself. Pretty intense movie. Everyone should see it, regardless of your faith. I don't believe in aliens, but I saw ET.

I do not want to see anyone including Jesus tortured for 45 minutes.

Notice that those shows often say "some experts believe....", "while others believe...", "many experts believe..." when they start talking about other possibilities and portray it as fact, even visually showing it. Don't take it for fact and figure out the truth yourself, have faith but not blind faith. True those possibilities exist but they're not plausible.

For example, in one show on Discovery Channel, it said that "it's possible that..." Noah was in a boat and was deeply in debt and was chased by his creditors, who also survived the flood and foreclosed on his boat and that a great many people may have survived it, and that it might not have been a global flood".

The above statement accurately depicts what Discovery Channel shoves down your throat. This just goes to say, "don't believe everything you see or hear on TV."
