The Passion is a big winner

You know, all these nutjobs who are telling everyone to boycott it makes me want to go see it that much more.

On a different note, I saw 50 First Dates this weekend - excellent movie. TPOTC was sold out of all the night time slots so I'll probably see it this weekend

The fact that you people are bragging about ROTK beating The Passion of Christ is really childish IMHO.

Seeing "Passion" was a moving experience for me (even as a person who isn't all that in touch with his religious keepings) and is not even on the same level as something as trivial as ROTK.

I concur. But what do you expect from an Off Topic forum like this?

Maybe for some people (you know, the type that dressed up like wizards, hobbits, and such) found the LOTR trilogy to be a moving, epic, and most memorable movie ever, too. I'm sure that there are lots of people out there that find The Passion of the Christ trivial as well.

Man mel Gibson is going to make bank off of that movie.

Yup. His 25 million investment is going to turn into many hundreds of millions. Talk about a smart move! They even said he will get almost all of the profits (newmarket gets part).

Imagine how much it will garner total, including DVD sales, etc. I will probably go see it at the $2 theatre so thats another few bucks 🙂.

yeah, 2 months ago everyone here and their grandmothers thought ROTK was the biggest thing since sliced bread.

What makes it even more impressive is that it's an "R" rated movie. It's not typical for an R movie of any hype to do that type of business.

I just find it hard to compare a movie about wizards and fuggin' dwarfs comparable to the retelling of a work from the Bible.

Everyone has different opinions...I'm sure that many people can say similar things about The Passion.

Me too, but you have to consider that probably 1/2 of the people that post here walk around with dunce caps on their head most of the time anyway, so it really shouldn't be any big shock they feel that way.
