Well, you're surely not allowed to STUDY after midnight, since all lights must be out. Might as well screw!

I also think it's funny that you're allowed to pack heat, but you can't watch Die Hard.

If they're going there for college, they're probably not reading this "since all Internet use must go through the University's filtered access."

To all the folks that think this site is a joke like Landover Baptist (or whatever that's called), it's most certainly not. I have a friend who goes there; his family is very conservative, but slightly less so than mine, so I'm not quite sure how he manages.

Racism aside, the whole dress / music / movie / game code thing was reason enough for me to reject 98% of the "Christian" colleges out there; I'm very sorry, but I've had to live with that kind of legalism BS for 18 years already, and I'm not about to put up with another 4 or more years of it in college!

I'll have to ask my friend if he can hit forums.anandtech.com sometime, it would be interesting to see. They do keep a very active watch on what the students do on their computers. From what I can tell, the students aren't allowed administrator-level access to their own personal computers, and there's most likely spyware also in use to make sure nobody sneaks a peek at Ms. Jackson's wardrobe malfunction. Yes, they banned access to a cartoon site for the usage of the word "crap," so to say that their network filtering is draconian would be a severe understatement.

Edit: added part in italics

aspiring pastors and their prospective wives. Also, I knew many families that would only pay for college if said college was BJU/Northland/Pensacola. They were on their own if they wanted "secular" colleges, or even "mainstream" Christian colleges such as Trinity.

Nik isn't a racisit.

His anger directed at people who usually turn out to be hispanic or whatever you call those people is purely due to the local population envrionment.

heck, stick him in New York, people would call him anti-semite.

;)

Nope. I'm a conservative Christian and I think that Bob Jones is pretty screwed up. They disallow inter-racial relationships, etc. Or at least, they did up til recently - it may not be official anymore. They've got issues.

I don't think a reply like yours can be stressed enough...seeing as so many non-Christians (especially if they know no Christians) tend to get the picture that Bob Jones U. is a place we all aspired to graduate from. I think they still frown on the interracial thing too.

I went to a Christian college, and if you compared their charter and rules to Bob Jones, you'd think BJU existed on another planet.

That kind of environment for a "college" scares me. The people sending their kids to this place, no doubt have already sheltered the kid alot. When they finally do hit the real world its going to be a shock.

I'd have to agree, unfortunately, particularly in the context of this thread. That said, he may just have a chip on his shoulder in general, because he's clearly one angry dude.

Interesting how he takes pains to say he "discriminates," but isn't a racist. That sounds to me like a racist with a cowardly streak.

Ha, I have three friends that went there and PCC... one came back pregnant, a guy hated it, and the other girl had no choice since she is the daughter of the principal of a high school just like Bob Jones (i was forced to go there). These are some pretty whacky people.

Just imagine when they start having political ambitions... oh wait. sh!t

Yeah well guys, you didn't have to deal with these people coming to your campus on Friday nights and trying to convert you. I went to Clemson University and EVERY SINGLE Friday night, Bob Jones students would make the 45 minute drive over to Clemson to try and convert people. It was fun at first to screw with them but it got very old very quickly.
THOSE BETTER BE UPPERCLASSMEN! IF THEY'RE UNDERCLASSMEN HETHENS, YOU MAY STRIKE THEM DOWN!!!

Why is everyone calling BJU racist?
Well... up until 5 years ago, they DID have a policy stopping interracial dating because they feared it would bring about the anti-christ. That's probably why.

Nice.

I knew a girl who was considering going to Pesacola CC and her parents were going to move from Mississippi to Florida to be close to her (she was a only child). Her parents home-schooled her and were much more fanatical than she ever was.

They believed that the music was wrong if the beat of the music was faster than the beat of a heart.
So... Closer from NIN is ok? ;)

Exactly. I hate ANY large group of people that detract more than they invest into society, local or otherwise..

Posters of movie and music stars and fashion models are not permitted. The subjects of personal photos should exhibit the modesty and appropriate physical contact we expect from our students.
Music must be compatible with the University's music standards:
New Age, jazz, rock, and country music is not permitted.
Contemporary Christian music is not permitted (e.g., Michael W. Smith, Stephen Curtis Chapman, WOW Worship, and so forth).
Televisions and DVD/videocassette players are not permitted in the residence halls; computer DVD players may not be used to view movies.
You may not possess or play computer and video games rated T, M, or A or having elements of blood and gore, sensual or demonic themes, or featuring suggestive dress, bad language, or rock music.
Due to space considerations, appliances such as mini refrigerators and microwaves are not permitted in residence hall rooms. A refrigerator for medical-related needs and microwaves are provided in each residence hall.
Residence hall students may not watch videos above a G rating when visiting homes in town and may not attend movie theaters.
All weapons must be turned in for storage. Trigger locks are required for pistols. Fireworks are not permitted on campus.

I bet erections are banned as well

I had almost forgotten the "even if a person puts a gun to your head it's still your decision whether you make someone leave your place of business" part of the discussion.

Priceless.

As for the "cowardly" observation, I agree. It must tear him up to feel superior to others yet not have the guts to admit it.

This is a great piece of work.

Hair must be cut in a traditional, conservative style?not shaved, spiked, tangled, or shelved. It may not be colored or highlighted.

The picture directly to the right.. oh my goodness she has highlighted hair.

Not to mention that looks like a LEATHER jacket, which is what bikers wear. And they seem to be leaning in to each other. Maybe that picture was intended as an example of what NOT to do?;)

You must have missed the large, red font above that guideline that stated, "Dress Code for Men".
