From what I hear, Pensacola in Florida is similar or worse. Why ANYONE would want to go to one of those places is beyond me.

Well, I suppose most of them are probably forced to go by their parents...

Have you guys read that right-bashing book by Al Fraken?

In one of the chapters he talks about this University and pretended to be interested in sending his son there. Only his son didn't want to go thru wiht it, so he got his friend to act as his son. And they went to the University and hilarity ensued.

Each day in chapel we recite the University Creed. It is a concise statement of the most important truths taught in God's Word.

I believe in the inspiration of the Bible (both the Old and the New Testaments); the creation of man by the direct act of God; the incarnation and virgin birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; His identification as the Son of God; His vicarious atonement for the sins of mankind by the shedding of His blood on the cross; the resurrection of His body from the tomb; His power to save men from sin; the new birth through the regeneration by the Holy Spirit; and the gift of eternal life by the grace of God.

Well, there goes EVERYTHING FUN ABOUT COLLEGE LIFE.

I could be wrong on this, but don't they drink wine all the time in the Bible?

i went to school with someone who went there

jesus, i thought she was a bitch in high school

they had a rep come to our school once (christian school) and every kid there thought the guy was a nutjob.

while im at it, the school i went to sucked ass almost as bad as BJU.

shorts were never allowed, even for physed in the summer when it was 90F+ outside. my dad came to pick me up after school once, wearing shorts, and the principal had a 10 or 15 minute talk with him because of it.

scary part? some students there don't have too much of a problem with it (IE, the rep who came to talk to us) creepiest god damn thing i ever saw.

This is a joke, right?

Nope. I'm a conservative Christian and I think that Bob Jones is pretty screwed up. They disallow inter-racial relationships, etc. Or at least, they did up til recently - it may not be official anymore. They've got issues.

You know what's REALLY funny? When I was a freshman in high school, my school connected via satellite to Bob Jones University. Virtually 100% of my freshman year was taught from BJU. That's where I met TheBlondOne (fellow student in one of my classes). She and I were e-penpals. That's how she and Viper GTS met. :)

I have a B.S. in Biology and out of curiosity I wanted to see what BJ U (LOL that cracks me up) offered. I think I took more science classes in one year then a BJ U bio student would take over four years.

You can get your Masters in Organ Performance at BJ U!

You can get an MA in Organ Performance @ U of Michigan too, IIRC.

Because they disallow inter-racial relationships. Do you agree that's a racist policy?

EDIT: I now see they reversed that policy. Good for them.

Not as near as entertaining as being able to tell people you learned how to perform on the organ at BJ U.

I wouldn't call it racist, no. In any case, that's not their policy. After Bob Jones Jr. died a few years ago, the college has been trying to change their policies. BJ Jr. held the wishes of his father, the guy who started the place, like they were holy text or something. Now that he's gone, the college is relaxing.

Yes, it seems they have pulled the 6-foot stick that was formerly totally inserted in their ass out...but only about 3 inches.

I'd be entertained to hear a non-racist explanation for a place of higher learning disallowing interracial dating. Even they concede it has no Biblical roots. BTW, they only changed the policy after taking a ton of heat following President Bush's 2000 campaign speech there.
