This year was a mjor dissappointment for summer movies with terrible, just terrible offerings. With the money that Hollywood pulled in it make you think that the general public in this country are mindless zombies, willing to pay inflated ticket prices to see crap.

Perhaps they are right?

I think it looks funny, and Will Ferrel is more of a co-star than THE star... so it'd be less of a "Ferrel movie" and just a movie that happens to have Ferrel in it.

after all the trailers I saw for this movie, I have not seen anything remotely funny.

Dinner For Shmucks looks eleventy billion times funnier.

besides, Will Ferrell is the kiss of death to movies.

Your footnote was really all you needed to post, its obvious you wouldn't like it. There are people - especially on these forums, I've noticed - that have this strange allergy towards Will Ferrell, and its amusing how virulent they get about it. Such as, ya know, saying they would rather "fucking die."

Anyway, what does Dinner for Shmucks have to do with it? Its not like you can't see both movies.

That type of comedy is just like, unbearably bad to me. It's literally the lowest common denominator in my opinion. It just seems literally offensive. Dinner for Shmucks looks beyond awful too. There is this breed of comedy in the last few years that is kind of spearheaded by people like Ben Stiller, Will Ferrel, Adam Sandler, Steve Carrel, etc that just has no substance whatsoever. It's kind of like they just turn on the camera and try to impress people with how amusing they think they are and then just pump out these fucking awful films that are all identical.

There's really nothing wrong with liking it, you don't have to get all butthurt about it that I don't like something subjective. I just find avoid movies of that ilk.

If I got "butthurt" over people not liking the movies, I wouldn't post threads like this. Hell, awhile back I posted that Anchorman was among my favorite movies and I'm pretty sure someone tried to organize a lynch mob. Its really the reverse that's true - so many people out there get "butthurt" that people like these movies that they find so objectionable.

Besides, I'm not the one that stated a preference for death over the issue. Its not like I said I'd rather fucking die than know someone doesn't like Will Ferrell.

I'll see it. I like Ferrell when he works with Adam McKay.

I saw the trailer before Inception. I kept thinking 'how long is this damn trailer?' and got the feeling I had just seen the best of The Other Guys.

If Ferrel wasn't involved I might see it since I actually like Marky-Mark, Samuel L. and Eva Mendes. But I'm through with watching him turn into Tom Green, jumping on people and shouting ridiculously.

It's called hyperbole, you should be familiar with that since your favorite movies seem to be over the top, unbelievable comedies

lol @ thread

Anyhow, unlike all the other bland movies from Will Ferrell over the past few years (which tend to get terrible critic reviews), this one actually looks halfway decent if not great.
To me, I see Will's character as something closer to Stranger Than Fiction type than the Talladega/Semi-Pro/Step Brothers type.
That might be completely wrong, since I have not seen The Other Guys, but it just looks like a quirkier movie.

And the critics seem to be completely agreeing, showing this movie might just not fit the assumed mold in regards to team McKay/Ferrell.

Uh huh, my point is that you're the one acting butthurt here, not me. I have yet to even defend Will Ferrell and his movies, or attack anyone who doesn't like them.

im not normally a will ferrell fan, his movies are hit-or-miss for me. but this movie does look at least interesting enough to go to the drive in for.

I've only seen 2 Will Ferrell movies, one I didn't like - Talladega Nights. And the other probably my favorite comedy ever Step Brothers.

lol

Both movies are out at roughly the same time. Both movies are comedies. Will Ferrell isn't funny. DFS isn't that funny, but it is funnier than The Other Guys.

I won't see either one.

I would rather watch a bunch of Abbott & Costello movies than any Will Ferrell movies.

Anchorman is the best comedy of all time.
