Did you like it ? I remember recommending this movie way before it even hit theaters or became as popular as it did though not all foreign films have this opportunity. I actually liked The Devil's Backbone better but I thought the The Orphanage was still very good. Just not a scary horror film. More of a poetic horror film.

It was ok, I suppose. I was hoping it would be a little scarier though.

I bet that one scene that came out of nowhere at least made you jump. Near the middle of the movie.

That made me jump, yes.

SPOILER:

What I don't get about the end, where she finds Simon's body. (a) Are you telling me with all the searching the police did, they didn't realize there's a basement to the building? Nor did Laura? (b) he's been dead for 6 months, yet his body is still 95% preserved? I mean his face is a little bit deformed, but a 6 month old body would be barely more than a pile of bug-infested mush. They wouldn't have smelled that in the meanwhile anyway?

Yes, I know it's not the point, but if you're going to have an ending that's built up for 2/3 of the movie, it had to be more plausible.
