They still use "cocoa leaf extract", whatever that is.

If it really were cocaine, I would buy craploads, let it all evaporate, bleach the remains, then sell it for millions. :p

...why not just sell baking soda? Even if it were cocaine, bleached dehydrated coke (aka sugar) won't get you all that high. :D

I think I read on the coca cola site that cocaine being used was just a myth. Actually, I'm pretty sure I read that.

There hasn't been any cocaine in Coke in any of our lifetimes, if it was even true in the past.

A coke representative came to my school back in the day, and we asked him about the cocaine.
He said it was acutally true, but u need to have a truck load of coke to even detect the slightest amount.

The current Coke is not the same as the Coke that preceded New Coke in the mid '80s. They used to use sugar but now use corn syrup. It doesn't taste the same as when I was a kid.

How much cocaine was in that "mere trace" is impossible to say, but we do know that by 1902 it was as little as 1/400 of a grain of cocaine per ounce of syrup. Coca-Cola didn't become completely cocaine-free until 1929, but there scarcely any of the drug left in the drink by then:

What?

If you read that, it definately wasn't on Coca Cola's own site.

Unless it's some bizzare PR thing. Regardless, that is certainly not true.

You got that right. Coke is much more "harsh" or acidic tasting than when I was a kid.

As far as the cocaine goes, you have to understand that having cocaine (or an opiate or other hard drug) in a drink wasn't a big deal at the turn of the century. "Patent Medicines," were very popular at the time and often contained large amounts of cocaine.

Yes, Cocaine has never been added, but it was a part of the coca leaf used.

I don't know about Coca Cola, but I got to try some Dr. Pepper made with imperial cane sugar today, and it really did taste better/smoother then the corn sugar they use in it now. Not sure where my freind got it, but it was in 12 ounce bottles, and he said it was like $3.50 a 6 pack.
