Online verifying? Microsoft way of getting rid of all ileagal copying out there!

Well im looking for a new OS! There is no way I will go on using any of microsofts products anymore.
Not that I like piracy... But If they could keep a price that you could actually consider paying.

Look at linux now there is a product that I can afford....

 
QNX RTP, BeOS PE, FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, AtheOS, and HURD are also all free. I don't see being free being so important as compared to be open source (of course a number of the aforementioned os's are open source as well, which is great). It makes things decentralized and allow's more hacks (for instance, if the harddrive copy protection thing goes through, you can bet someone will have a filesystem patchable into the kernel source within a week or two to get around it. things like that just can't happen with windows).
