As much as I'd like to say it's a bad death... I'd think that through the wood chippers would be pretty quick. Hate to see what the exit of the wood chipper looked like, but hey, that's why I'm not a farmer.

pretty gross, but they were told by a gov't representative that they could do that.

how much pain could an animal capable of running around headless really feel? does the humane society care about insects? i think not.

I've killed a chicken before. They run around even when their heads been chopped off, spewing blood everywhere!

Seems to me that a chipper would be 100% effective and extremely quick...

I fail to see the problem, even if it is unusual.

That's rather of painful... why not cut their heads off? Then again I don't know how quickly a wood chipper goes through a chicken.

Exactly what I was thinking. The chickens would probably feel pain for half a second. I wonder what they do with the pile of chicken remains??

... is by choking.

ass, you took my line.

Ok, what's quicker, ringing a chickens neck, or wood chipper? Wood chipper takes about .5 seconds, the choking manuever could take upwards of 30 minutes.

Man that must have been one messed up site though. Can you imagine 30,000 chicken feathers floating around in the air? It must have looked like it was snowing.

No, because that would imply that McDonald's uses real chicken which of course CANT be true...

I had a friend when I was in Highschool and his dad owned a huge chicken farm.

If chickens got sick they would throw them into an incinerator. Didnt even give it a second thought.

Livestock are percieved as product, not animals. Sad, but true.

It's a bit (okay, a lot) unorthodox, but in terms of humaneness, I don't really see a problem with it.

I'm just happy that I didn't have to do it - it'd be quite the memorable experience.

Very quickly! Using a chipper is actually more humane. That chicken wouldn't feel a thing!

On a semi-related note, if you need to kill a chickren quickly, either break its neck or put a knife in its heart, though their heart is kinda small, so just break the poor bastard's neck.

*Note* I do no suggest you go and find 30,000 chickrens to practice it on......

Do you have the time to cut off 30,000 chicken heads?

I have to agree with those people. I've both raised live stock and fed a wood chipper. A wood chipper would go through a chicken in about 1 second. Thier brains would be alive longer if you just cut thier heads off.

Frankly, I can't think of a more humane way.
