So I guess nobody can ever again claim "The man is keeping brothers down" right?

This is GOLD!!!!! Echoes my sentiment exactly, but in a very profound sarcastic way....

http://www.theonion.com/conten...a_win_causes_obsessive

"the man" would be any person in a position is power over another, Police Officers are "the man" so I believe oppression will stay roughly the same, unless Obama has some magical plan to get rid of all the people in power who like to hold minorities down and racially profile them.

basically nothing will change in America.
So, not only are you full of crap about AA, but you are a big optimist as well!

full of crap? lol, I suppose you believe America initially put AA into place because they love black people soooooo much and wanted them to have every advantage possible over everyone else? haha get the fuck out of here! If you're one of those people who believe AA is an advantage, I wouldn't expect you to understand anything I say about it. Cute comment though.

That line was pure gold.

Umm, except there were 5 or 6 people on the ballot...

Not here, unless you're counting House/Senate. Dem/Rep and write-in.

Uhhh who said AA is just meant for blacks? Last I checked, blacks weren't the only minority or "oppressed group" in the history of the United States.

I work for a federally funded company myself and AA is no fluff... it's taken pretty damn seriously as is pushing the inclusion of diversity. You can lose the ability to bid for contracts if you're caught discriminating and well... that's not a good thing :p

* Executive Order No. 10,925, 1961 [3], issued by President Kennedy

Established the concept of affirmative action by mandating that projects financed with federal funds "take affirmative action" to ensure that hiring and employment practices are free of racial bias.

Prejudice doesn't merely go away because some dude in a suit tells you to... things like that take time and it gets better as time goes on. Albeit, things such as cultural differences certainly don't help. Hell... I live in the North and how many Northerners consider themselves different than Southerners (regardless of skin color)?

There are two interpretations of Affirmative Action though.
1) Basically, what you say in your post. Discrimination is not allowed.
2) The institution of racial quotas. This is the definition of Affirmative Action that many have problems with.
