It's interesting to see how posts have evolved over time. That thread almost looks like someone's facebook feed.

Wow May 2000. I think I would have been finishing my last year of elementary then. It feels like 2000 was not that long ago, but it was 15 years ago. Crazy how time flies.

But it's not. How is a thread with lower id newer than one with higher ID?

There are two threads before that but they are probably in the mod forum.

Guess threads may have gotten new IDs between the various forum changes. Pretty sure there's some 1995 threads if you go even deeper, but they're broken.

instead of banning you guys should start changing their names to something embarrasing.


In this case change his name to necromonger or something


if someone swears too much change their name to bagofdicks or something similar

i know! in some ways, i feel no different now than i did in 2000. but i was just starting college then and knew jack squat about software development, so that has changed a lot.

i am still just as bad with the ladies though... 2 dates in 15 years, thats an ATOT record low i am sure. :\

its weird but i have seen it happen when primary key index generators start at a certain point then getting reset to fill empty space at a later date.

you mean 1999? pretty sure anand didnt start the forums until then.
 
Harvey is still active. Wonder if the others are even still alive.

My earliest recollections of AnandTech were articles that they posted about installing or upgrading hardware in a computer data center in Pittsburgh. They went into some detail about things like load balancing and distribution of tasks among servers. It was pretty interesting for the time. I seem to recall that they made a yearly pilgrimage to Pittsburgh to upgrade most of the servers every year and would then document it in an article.
