I tried to bind the kp_ins key to jump, end key to crouch, and delete key to reload, but it won't work. help?

You are using the arrow keys aren't you? WASD for the win. R for reload, C for crouch, and spacebar for jump. It's the easiest way to play man. I haven't used arrow keys since Duke Nukem 3D.

I assume you're using the in-game menu to do this... That should work just fine; it works for me.

If not, the key names are INS, END, and DEL. Using those should let you do it from the console.

BTW, KruptosAngelos is right. Arrow keys define suck.
