If the whole game was that way I could see your argument. It isn't and quite honestly is one of the better games of last year.

Saw enough in 2hrs to not get to the rest of the game. I remember pushing through Uncharted 2 due to story and I thought the controls were terrible.

I remember thinking at the end of the game that it was not worth the effort, although I really enjoyed the story. Learned my lesson from that game not to do it again.

Some play game for the story, story is what makes a solid game sometimes. To that argument, every game is repetitive. Nba, same thing over and over again...AC same thing..cod and bf4 both fps with same gameplay elements.

It is just what repetitive elements you like vs what you don't like.

Their headset isn't using 3.5mm input / output. It is using their connector. They are having to convert the signal (which looked to also be a problem on the 360) with this adapter.

Luckily it is easy for me because I have a pc headset which splits chat and game audio already. I feel for people with wireless headsets specific for consoles that dont work at all.

ms official headset adapter set for march release but two problems. First it is $25 and you can build an adapter using the headset they give away and an adapter that costs a couple bucks from an electronics store. Second it only enables voice chat. Game audio needs to come from optical or rca apparently. I guess they really want to sell their $80 stereo headset that will launch at the same time and do both game and voice audio from the controller.

$25 for an adapter... jesus fucking christ. Have more contempt for your customers, MS...

When I was 12 my parents handed me a math workbook and told me to memorize it.

Or, just buy both of them. I just got my ps4 yesterday to go with my XB1 and I am loving it. So glad I decided to go with both consoles.

I'm in that same boat, I'm going to get an xb1 eventually to go with the PS4. Too many good exclusives coming from both camps that I don't want to miss this time around.

I will eventually have both myself, but my kids each have their own in their rooms. I will get a PS4 when Uncharted comes out and can get it used cheap and get my own One when I can find a good deal on one used. I have been looking and my local craigslist is flooded with deals

The best thing about it is you never have to say "man I need to buy a ps4 (or an xb1) for that game". Or if there is a superior version or some special content you want for a specific title, you dont have to settle.

I just want to be able to wirelessly have all game sound and chat ability through my headset so that the game sounds don't wake anyone up.

Does the new MS headset do that? If so, does it need to connect to the controller?

Yeah that is fantastic. As of right now, I don't own a Wii U, but my wife and I agreed that we should get one in the future. Not only for us, but for our two kids to use since they love anything with mario in it. The days of taking sides in console wars are gone for me. I just want to play games, and there are exclusives on both Xbox and Playstation that I would hate to miss out on. Now I don't have too.

I will probably get most multiplatform single player games on my ps4 for now while the devs iron out the kinks on the Xbox games, and get anything with multiplayer that my friends are playing on the Xbox.

Nice. I told my friends yesterday and two of course came back with how big of a piece of shit the ps4 is, even though they have never tried it. Another one said the controller sucks, but hasn't gotten any hands on time with it. It gets old listening to people have to try to put down a machine to make them feel better or something about their purchase.

The thing is, I know of any headsets that connected via the 3.5mm jack that did that on the 360. So, crying that the Xbox One adapter doesn't provide additional functionality over what you got from the Xbox 360 is a bit silly.

Guess we should never improve anything. Good call.

They already have improved it. If you're going to bitch that they are giving you the option to retro fit your existing peripheral into the controller with the exact same functionality you got before because it doesn't, somehow, enhance it beyond it's original capacity; you're a moron.

Are you also upset that they sell adapters to connect your old, 8-bit consoles to new HDTVs and they don't play in 1080p?

MS's stereo headset is wired through the controller.

Not really...there could easily have been an adapter that directs game and chat through the controller. Hell they are selling a headset that can so you know it CAN be done. They just want you to buy their headset.

Stop defending what is obviously a ploy for people to buy the MS headset.

I wonder if some of it comes from other people harassing them about their decision, which makes them become defensive over it. As a similar thing, you wouldn't believe how much crap I get for owning an iPhone as an engineer. Apparently, you're only allowed to own an Android device if you're technically oriented. Let's ignore that I was on AT&T back when it was Cingular, and AT&T was pretty much just iPhone if you wanted a good phone. But I start getting really irked when people give me crap about it for dumb reasons.

Anyway, I own all three next-gen (current-gen?) consoles. I just buy whatever games I want to play... and usually never play them. ;)

Do the previous headsets (that use a 3.5mm jack) get sound from the controller of the 360? If so, MS is selling some bullshit. If not, the headset is working exactly as intended and you can't expect additional functionality.
