Microsoft's Black Friday prices are live currently in the digital store. The Titanfall Deluxe Edition (full game + all map packs) is up for $12.49, an absolute steal for anybody who hasn't bought the game. For that price, you should buy it even if you're not sure you'll play it.

Kudos to Microsoft for the great digital sales.

I wanted forza 2 but they advertised it at $30 and when they went live it was $40. It's sold out now and people are trying to get price corrected but they won't budge.

Speaking of Bulma, it's also worthwhile to consider character names. The most egregious is Chichi, which is Japanese for breasts. Bulma is actually Buruma, which is just romaji for bloomers/underwear.

The character names were supposed to be silly, and they didn't exactly translate to English. At least, American translations aren't as bad as Filipino ones. My GF told me when she was a kid, Yu Yu Hakusho was confusing. Genkai was named something like Jeremiah, which is the complete opposite sex!
 
Any of you guys have both systems? Have a preference between the 2? I'll probably end up with both eventually but leaning towards getting the One first.

I have both mostly because I got a unity bundle for $180 and sold the unity code for $40. I had a ps3 to trade in when best buy offered $100 + a $50 coupon toward a xb1. I mainly use the Xbox for dlna and exclusive titles. I like both but the Ps4 installs games much quicker, has built in battery for controllers. But ps4 battery on controller sucks and needs recharged often. I bought a play and charge kit for Xbox 1 and that makes my controller last about a week without a charge.

i have had both since launch.

i play my xbox1 at least twice a week.

i haven't turned on my ps4 since like february.

it's just about what console has the games you want on it and nothing more. go do some research to find out which one has more games you want then grab that system.

What about the interface? I know you enjoy your home theater experience so just curious if the 1 does anything to enhance that or if you bypass most of those features.
 
I prefer the ps4 interface. The Xbox ui isn't bad either after a while but it took me time to get used to it. I don't use much of the Ui of the Xbox though.

I'm glad I have both because most console games my friends get on ps4 and this just leaves me with the Xbox exclusives like halo, sunset overdrive, forza, ryse. Might pick up another game like zoo tycoon today if I can find any sales at the stores after the scavengers leave.

the ps4 has a better interface imo. but it's not that the ps4 one is great, but it's just very straight forward, fast, and simple to use. and the xbox1 interface IS TERRIBLE. i cannot stand the UI for the dash on xbox1. i can't believe how much worse it is than the 360.

for instance, friends. i had blurredvision (and many other people) on my friend list. however for some reason, some people are now on my "followers" list instead. there is no rhyme or reason as to why some are on my friends list and some are on my followers list. but for him, i am on his friends list.

so what this means is, that he can see me pop online and see my scores on games under the friend filter. but on my end, i can't see him pop online or see his scores on games. makes no sense why he didn't stay as a friend on my end.

then you have the "everything is an app" bullshit. pulling up the friends list is such a headache now and so is reading messages. it's just so clunky and simply terrible.

now that said, as far as the home theater experience goes, i don't use either of them for bluray playback because they both suck ass for bluray playback compared to a standalone. i've used amazon prime and netflix on my xbox one, but that is rare. the quality on both of those is crap compared to an actual bluray.

I agree 100%. I hate the XB1 UI. It's usable but everything is hidden behind menus and stuff. As for friends, you have friends if you both follow eachother. you only have followers if you aren't following them back or something. It's pretty weird.

I have both and mostly I use my XB1 for watching TV. I have my cable box hooked up through it and use kinect voice commands a lot to swap channels, mute, pause etc.

Most of the games between them are the same except a few. I like the PS4 controller a bit better overall so if I was going to play the same games either way I'd go with the PS4. Decide what games you are looking at specifically first. There's really only a few that are exclusive between them.

Would have jumped on the Xbox One + AC + free game but its gone now. Not too keen on getting a refurb, only 90 day warranty. Was burned on the launch 360 that eventually red ringed, so I'll stick to a warrantied unit.

it makes absolutely no sense that if we were friends on xbox360, that now on xbox1 that he can see me on his friends list and has me as a friend, but i only have him as someone on my followers list. no sense at all.

All of my 360 friends are actual friends in Xbox One, whether they've upgrade yet or not. Maybe this is some bug?
 
Well turns out when I got my best buy gcu membership they gave me the wrong card. They gave me the gift gcu one and customer service couldn't activate it. I've been waiting in line for an hour for some Xbox one games and looks like they have no clue what to do.
 
Thanks for the insight guys. I'll likely wait it out a bit. If Uncharted comes out before I've taken the plunge on either system then I'll likely just go the PS4 route first.
 
geometry wars 3 online is terrible. it's just 2 stupid game modes. very dumb and definitely just tacked on. like nobody is playing it either, which makes it even dumber.

It will be another year but you would have more games and a lot of good ones from this year for cheap.
 
What annoys me about XBOX Live is that you cannot send games to people. I'm getting my brother an XBOX One for Christmas, and I want to send him Killer Instinct Ultimate. We used to play the original game a lot, and I think it'd be more fun to have it included than to just get the Combo Breaker pack, which has a physical release. 🙁

To be fair, PSN doesn't support this either.

I haven't tried it, but what more do you need than just two people in the same area? That's pretty much how it works in Resogun, but to be honest, I don't really like it much. It's harder to play because you don't stay in the middle of the screen at all times and one player can drag the other around with a boost. Essentially, it's just really hard to go from complete control to shared control like that... especially in a game where finite controls are imperative to good gameplay.

it's clearly tacked on for the multi on gw3.

2 people would be fine, if it wasn't geared towards 2 teams of 4. and it has 2 modes - get high score, or who beats the boss first.

the boss mode you have limited ammo, 50 max, and it's shared on the whole team. they have ammo things you pick up on the map. but 1 on 1 is stupid. you face a separate enemy than your opponent too. all you see is your opponent's icon flying around - you dont see any bullets, or any enemies that they see.

then in the "high score" mode, it's the same - you can only see the opponent, not the enemies they are shooting at or the bullets they fire. you don't even fire at the same enemies that they fire at. and it's like a king of the hill type of game. there are 2 "posts" that disperse enemies for whatever team "owns" that pole. you "own" it by shooting it until it is yours. then the opponent can take it back.

so when its 1v1, it's so dumb because there are 2 poles and you each basically have 1. and the enemies that come out are the basic ones, you can basically circle the pole and not worry about anything. it's just a dumb online mode.

and i'm not sure what you mean about KI. they have multiple versions. the combo breaker version you can buy online too, it's the $20 version. the ultra one is the $40 one. i'm not sure what the ultimate version is though.
 
I purchased one of the refurbished Xbox one bundles from the MS site yesterday. I picked the Halo MCC as my free game, and today I got an email that the console and the game shipped, but I also got a surprise in my email that also contained Forza 5 as one of my digital games.

The site states that you get 2 free digital games - some stupid dance game and Ryse. However, I received a code for Forza as well! Not sure if MS is doing this as a bonus, or if the system made a boo boo....
