If anyone is curious as to my XBOX One woes, I spoke with Microsoft on Wednesday. They put me through the usual rigamarole that I had already tested, but I'm not surprised since that's standard IT affair. Although, I did get a little annoyed at the guy constantly asking whether I put the HDMI cable in the correct port.

"So, if you're looking at the front, it's on the right, and from the back, it's on the left?" ...asked that about five times!
I went through their advance replacement setup where they ship you a new console, and you ship the old one back (they pay both ways regardless of which option). Although, there's a $15 service charge for the advance replacement. I got the new console on Friday (helps when it ships from Tennessee!), and it works fine. Although, no free game for me... just a free month of Gold.
The tech did tell me something that seemed rather odd. He insisted that the fact that I plugged my X1's power brick through a UPS is what caused it to die. Apparently, since the power adapter has surge protection inside, they want you to plug it into the wall.

Microsoft... part of the reason why we use power strips, surge protectors, or UPSs is because we don't have that many wall outlets!
So, I'm wondering... does anyone plug their console directly into the wall?
