The OFFICIAL "Wish me good luck on my CompSci midterm" thread!

I have a EECS (Electrical Engineering and Computer Science here at U of M) 183 midterm at 7:00 tonight. I'm not too nervous, because this class isn't crucial for my success, but any big test makes me nervous.

I'm taking the class because it sounds interesting and because I'm a PoliSci major so I won't get to take neat classes like this much more. Most of the other kids in the class want to transfer to the Engineering school here at U of M (which is über-competitive), so they all finish their projects a week ahead of the due date, try to correct the teachers and the graduate instructors, etc.

Personally, I'm in the class for fun, and I'm really enjoying it. It also helps that I'm taking it Pass/Fail, since I figured it'd be a REALLY competitive class.

Enough with my rambling. WISH ME LUCK!

AH! It doesn't make me too confident that none of you AT CompSci geniuses have helped secure my good grade on the test with a simple "good luck!"

Whatever the hell EECS 183 is.

It's your worst nightmare, pal! Seriously though, EECS has a rep here as being the hardest major in ANY of the U of M's schools.

Great, so if you look up "EECS 183" in the course catalog, the class description would say "It's your worst nightmare, pal! EECS has a rep here as being the hardest major in ANY of the U of M's".

It's title is: Elementary Programming Concepts.

Fundamental concepts and skills of programming in a high-level language. Flow of control: selection, iteration, subprograms. Data structures: strings, arrays, records, lists, tables. Algorithms using selection and iteration (decision making, finding maxima/minima, searching, sorting, simulation, etc.). Good program design, structure and style are emphasized. Testing and debugging.

EECS 183 can be taken by both majors and non-majors in Computer Science. The course does indeed teach "elementary programming concepts." The underlying goal of the course is to enable students to learn and apply fundamental programming techniques and solve basic programming problems using a high-level progr amming language. The language used is C++.

Basically, it's elementary programming, but for someone who went into the class knowing HTML, it's crazily fast-paced.

sounds like a basic class..

can only get harder from there

This is the last EECS class I plan on taking - I'm a PoliSci major, and I just took this class for 'fun.' 🙂

I'd wish you good luck in Hexadecimal words, but I don't think you'd understand 🙂 Maybe AFTER you finish the class... 🙂
