From what I remember, ATOT has always been about more than just putting a smile on you fellow users face, it's been about helping people in a "light-hearted" way. After reading the thread titled: What do people with AIDS do for life insurance? , I've realized that some of us who have done some community service/volunteer work, need a thread where we can go to find current info on how we can help the people in the communities in which we live in. One of my past favorites is: YSOP :)

Please feel free to add yours to this thread :)

Well...I'm going to pimp my fraternity so you're going to have to deal with it. Since there are alot of college age folks here I figured I should. :)

APhiO runs a lot of service projects and they are all over the world. Some projects I worked on when I was an active brother include: Habitat for Humanity, Annual Auburn vs. Alabama Food Fight (canned food drive), fundraising for the local animal shelter, volunteering at the Southeastern Raptor Rehab Center, etc...

ive actually wondered if there is a website/publication that gives info on volunteer stuff in my area. generally, i just check out church groups that i happen to know people in.
but im not religious so...i tend to be an odd man out at the functions i go to.
(i live in central/north jersey if people know of area-specific orgs. ive always found that a good rule is, when in doubt, go to newark and you can find some soup kitchen, etc to work at)
