There are a lot more bandwagon steeler haters than there are fans. The steelers aren't the type of team to attract bandwagon fans. I think you're thinking of the patriots.

^ This. "Bandwagon" isn't a term that applies to Steelers fans.

You really are a sore loser. Must be hard to take when your team hasn't been relevant in 40 years. The more steeler haters the better though. It makes it that much more satisfying when they win. And they win a lot, so there's no shortage of satisfaction.

Yeah. I've never met a steelers fan who didn't have some geographical connection to western PA or northern WV.

Half of the patriots/cowboys fans have never even been to those regions. When people randomly pick a team to like, they don't pick the steelers.

You also can't claim people are jumping on a bandwagon because we're good. We've always been good.

Since the merger:
# years in playoffs: 26
# playoff games: 52 (record 33-19)
# championships: 6 (record 6-7), possibly 7 after this year
longest gap between playoff wins: 5 years

only 9 losing seasons since chuck noll took over in 1969, only 3 coaches over that period

Not only have we won more than any other team, we've been consistently good for the last 50 years. Regardless of whether or not we win the superbowl this year (which I don't think we will), we're still the most successful franchise in the NFL for the last 50 years no matter how you define it.

I guess that breeds a lot of haters.

You are so delusional. There is no NFL team that has a bigger bandwagon following around here, even more so then the Pats and Cowboys.

You seem to be confused on what a bandwagoner fan is. Its someone who picks a team that has always been good, and chooses to like that team just for that reason alone.

So lets find out: Steeler fans of ATOT, what is your connection to the steelers. Lets find out how many are bandwagon fans. My guess is not many.

I was born and raised in western/central PA, moved to pittsburgh for 4 years of highschool, and have lived in central PA since highschool. All of my family lives in Pittsburgh, and my wife and I are planning on moving back in about 2 years.

Which only makes them more so.

Bandwagoner fans that is.

Since they won't come out of the wood work until post season.

Bandwagon fans jump off when they aren't good. Even in the down years (when they happen) Steelers games are always sold out, waiting list miles long for season tickets, and big attendance at away games. San Diego a few years ago in particular. Looked almost like a home game.

The bandwagon claim would have more weight if they had just started winning ... like maybe in '75-ish. But when you're into the 3rd generation of fans, thats not bandwagon.

Born and raised about 1hr south of Pittsburgh. Both parents are from western PA originally. Large extended family all across the country and they're all Steeler fans. Same with the wife's family. All lifelong fans.

You seem to be confused on what a bandwagoner fan is. Its someone who picks a team that is the best right now, and chooses to like that team just for that reason alone until they start losing.

This ^ is more accurate. A perfect example is the Colts. A few years ago you couldn't sell unicorn blood to get tix. Now, they're giving them away. When Manning retires, their attendance will be bottom in the league.

As a lifelong GB fan (born, raised, and still live in WI), please don't ever mention the 80's again in a NFL thread.

My dad and a lot of his family are from PA, and he bought me a Steelers coat when I was little, been a fan ever since. When my daughter was born and the Steelers were on TV she was always happy and liked watching them as well. Here is my daughter from last year, gotta start 'em young!

Yes, we all know, everyone seems to have some kind of connection to Pittsburgh. It's amazing that anyone's left in that city.
