Ugh. I'm all for a change in the OT rules, but what they changed them to is just STUPID. Why can they not figure this thing out!?

yeah. When the impetus for the change was the notion that OT was decided by the coin toss--which is what these rules seem to address--and then you look at the fact that in the previous 3 seasons, 60% of the wins have come from teams that lost the coin toss....you have to wonder why the even made a change?

Thing is, I still tend to believe that the coin toss has too much weight, but the one overriding number simply doesn't lie. I've also come around to the belief that these guys are pro athletes--they make good money to do their jobs. the defense has a job to do just as well as the offense has a job. If the defense fails their job after losing the coin toss and the other team scores...then I find it hard to blame a coin.

This is a DREAM Super Bowl for the NFL.

You have the most storied franchise in league history who is synonymous with the Super Bowl going against the SUper Bowl juggernaut franchise of the Steelers.

A rabid, nationwide Packer Nation vs a rabid nationwide Steeler nation.
Charismatic, mega-stars on both teams. Young and old.

This is as good as it gets for the Super Bowl and for the NFL. I really think its going to be a crazy good game.

Of course the Packers will win. We're God's Team.
.

It is also the Blue Collar Superbowl.

Well the one thing that is an issue is that the team who wins the toss has to work a shorter distance down the field since all they are aiming for is a field goal.

And second, the average range for kickers has increased over the years making the field of play even shorter.

This give less pressure on the offense and more pressure on the defense.

I agree the new OT rules are too complex but they still had to do something.

Love the "Shittsburgh" and "Squeelers" names. Storied success and pure dominance does, indeed, breed jealousy. :)

I can hardly wait for gameday!

You know that if Jerry Jones shows up in Arlington, he's gonna have that "Jerry Jones face"...

hahaha, this picture is great.

So basically Big Ben haters can be broken down as follows:

Seattle/Arizona are butthurt over losing the superbowl
Bengals/Browns/Ravens fans are butthurt because we own the division
And a few patriots fans feel threatened by him

No, it's that people forgot that Big Ben is a rapist and Vick is a dog killer and the majority (or plurality) of voters are idiots who are actually pissed at Cutler for a sprained MCL - just because it's more fresh in their minds.

Actually, I think it simply breaks down as:

a depressingly low number of states that dislike rapists and repeat sexual-offenders to a greater degree than they do non-threatening professional athletes on teams that have no bearing on their local loyalty.

That is New Mexico, not Arizona.

It's pretty obvious from that picture that people who don't like the steelers (i.e. they are jealous of their success) also hate Big Ben. If it were your reasoning it wouldn't be broken down geographically that way.

Hate having to wait 2 weeks until the game, but will be rooting for the Pack to eak out a victory in a probable close game

At least it's not like college football where the championship game is basically the start of the next season.

2 weeks is perfect

I didn't even bother to look, but is the Pro Bowl this weekend, before the Superb Owl again? Could always watch that this weekend. :D

I had to question that last year, as the NFL must of tried thinking of a way to make the Pro Bowl even less significant. What better way to do that then have it the weekend before the top two teams of the season face off so none of their players bother with it. Surely they have no pro-bowlers on em.

Don't like? Yes.
Jealous? Ummm.....no.

Well, that's not why those people dislike the Steelers.

To be fair, I did refer to the other team as the "fudgepackers"

I'm only supporting Green Bay because it has been a lot longer since they have been to the Super Bowl. I would rather see Detroit, Cleveland, or some other sad sack team get there.

Also some people don't like Ben because he's a Dbag, not because of anything football related.

Would you like to see the Pirates win the world series?

LOL I love sports. Look at all the shit talk in this thread alone. Not to mention the blinders and/or rose colored glasses it forces people to wear.

In closing, the only people Aaron Rodgers has ever raped is defensive backs.

There are a lot more bandwagon steeler haters than there are fans. The steelers aren't the type of team to attract bandwagon fans. I think you're thinking of the patriots.
