Ugh. I'm all for a change in the OT rules, but what they changed them to is just STUPID. Why can they not figure this thing out!?
yeah. When the impetus for the change was the notion that OT was decided by the coin toss--which is what these rules seem to address--and then you look at the fact that in the previous 3 seasons, 60% of the wins have come from teams that lost the coin toss....you have to wonder why the even made a change?
Thing is, I still tend to believe that the coin toss has too much weight, but the one overriding number simply doesn't lie. I've also come around to the belief that these guys are pro athletes--they make good money to do their jobs. the defense has a job to do just as well as the offense has a job. If the defense fails their job after losing the coin toss and the other team scores...then I find it hard to blame a coin.
