I love these responses to big loses. It wasn't the Packers that WON the game, it was the Steelers that LOST it. I do this myself. I assure you, the Packers WON that game last night.

You must have missed my previous post where I gave them props for the win. I never said greenbay didn't win it.

Not sure how you could argue that the steelers had good playcalling and clock management in the last 2 minutes.

They burned 90 seconds by throwing up the middle on their first 3 plays, then didn't use their timeout on 4th down to actually come up with a good play. Terrible playcalling and clock management.

But I guess that vaunted GB defense was out there calling the plays for the steelers offense.

Oh ok, that changes everything :p

Glad they were able to make a game out of it, really would have liked to see the Steelers pull it off but when you give the give the ball back to the other team 3 times you're just begging to lose. Ben was making some poor throws and some of our playcalling was pretty suspect too. I think if we'd been able to to save one of those turnovers or get one of our own, things might have turned out differently.

On the bright side I think we'll still be in good shape for the next few years. Hopefully Ben can get himself healthy and stay healthy next year if/when our O Line returns and Mendenhall/Sanders/Wallace are some strong, young offense. Defense is the usual, we could use some better personnel against the pass.

Did YOU miss the point where I said I'd claim the same thing. Its a funny phenomena to fans of losing teams.

Hey, I'm ALL for a rematch next season in the Super Bowl. What a great game, by two great teams. The Packers may end up without Driver or CW next year (though why quit when you're still playing solid ball?) And we didn't even have two of our major weapons on offense (Grant and Finley).

I know I shouldn't be looking forward to 2012 already, but damn, I CAN NOT WAIT.

Yeah but I never said or even implied that GB didn't win the game. All I said was that the Steelers had terrible playcalling in the last 2 minutes which isn't really even debatable.

GB played a hell of a game and it probably would have been more lopsided had some of the injured players come back out after halftime.

These last several years of superbowls have been fantastic.

NYG coming back and knocking off the Pats for the win.
Arizona slugging it out with Pitt with some awesome plays on both side of the ball
NO's ballsy onside kick to start the 2nd half and take over the game
Then this years battle with Big Ben getting 2 minutes to drive for the win...

Great games all around and fun till the very end.

Congrats to the Packers and their fans. They've had a wild ride the fast few years and this season was injury riddled. They stuck together and pulled out an excellent win against a very veteran and physical team.

An awesome game, glad the Pack came out on top after Pittsburgh made it close.

Steeler fans acting like the Pack didn't make any mistakes. They didn't run the ball and dropped at least 8 perfectly placed passes all while losing 2 of their starting CB's early.

It was a slugfest to the end.

Can't shake the idea that the Packers taking the field goal on 4th and goal from the 5 wasn't the best choice. Obviously it worked out, in part thanks to the penalty against the Steelers during the kickoff, but it seems to me that going for it would have been the better choice.

Had the Packers scored, they'd essentially seal the game, barring a miracle Steelers comeback with a scoring drive, a recovered onside kick, and another scoring drive. All with under 2 minutes left and just one timeout.

If they hadn't scored, then the Steelers get the ball on their own 5 yard line. And they'd be playing to tie. With a longer field ahead of them, they'd still have to drive a good 65 yards to get within field goal range. And long field goals are risky. A 50-yarder is good maybe half the time, and that only lets them send it to OT, which is itself a 50/50 proposition.

As it happened, the penalty gave them a long field anyway but they still had to get in the end zone. Had they started that last drive at the 35 instead, then can drive 65 yards to win the game as opposed to driving 65 yards to have a 25% chance of winning.

But regardless of all this, great game. Very entertaining and exciting to the very end! When the Packers had that early 21-3 lead, I thought it was all over and might end up as a blowout. Glad it didn't disappoint.

Neither team really played up to their potential, yea. I think the Steelers played better overall but their failures were more critical and the Packers came through in more clutch situations (That 3rd and long late in the 4th quarter that turned into a long completion to Jennings I think was the real nail in the coffin of the game imo)

Is the Steelers kicker usually that bad? Even the ones he made were off it seemed. I mean, that 50+ yarder you kind of expect a miss but it way the fuck off.

Oddly enough he did really well in the regular season this year even after being brought in out of the blue after Reed was released. He's pretty young, nerves maybe.

He has been released by the Cowboys the Redskins AND the Cowboys (again.) Enough said.

Lol @ Rodgers. ESPN interview today

ESPN: "Have you heard from any of the Packer greats and legends after the win?"
Rodgers: "Not yet but I'm good friends with Bart Starr and I expect to get an email from him soon."
<awkward pause>
ESPN: "Uh, what about Brett Favre? Do you expect to hear from him?"
Rodgers: "No."

Rodgers looked really good. Lots of good timing passes that were on target including the one that almost got tipped by Clark that went for the TD.

Ben looked terrible during this particular game. He had guys open a lot and just overthrew them all the time, including a wide open Wallace for an easy TD. His SB play has been not that great. His first one was like 9/21, 0TD, 2 INT. His second one was good but it was against one of the worst defenses in the league in Arizona. And this one where he was mediocre with 25/40, 2TD/2INT. 3TD/5INT career. His overall career is still good. Maybe his bum knee/foot really killed the usual scrambling all over the place this time around.

The big turning points were things like the fumble, where Matthews made a really good place to jar the ball loose. Packers are scary, though, in that their 2nd half always seems bad. The same thing happened in Chicago.

I think with Woodson out of the game, taking that field goal was the only choice to make.

plus, that's what your defense is for. They have to do their job just as the offense has to do theirs. Force Pitt to go on a TD drive--granted, could give them the win with no time left, but the odds would be less than allowing a FG forcing overtime.
